Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (Isma) has turned down the invitation to a dialogue with the Coalition of Malaysian NGOs for the Universal Periodic Review Process (Comango) for now.

Isma president  Abdullah Zaik Abd Rahman ( right ) said that Comango's actions have harmed the nation and therefore called on its members to repent.

He wanted Comango members to return to the agenda of national unity.

"I don't think there is a need for a discussion now. Our problem is saving the nation. Give priority to national unity," he told Malaysiakini .

This morning, Comango spokesperson Honey Tan had invited all NGOs that criticised the coalition for allegedly undermining the position of Islam in Malaysia and promoting unnatural sex to a dialogue.

At the same conference, Komas director Jerald Joseph said the groups, which oppose Comango, are the same groups championing the cause of Palestinians on the ground of human rights.

"If you go to Isma's webpage, they are supporters of Palestine because Palestinians' human rights have been violated over and over again and we are all in solidarity with that.

"You cannot claim to use human rights on one end, and then shut your eyes on human rights when it comes to other people in Malaysia.

"This is where the doublespeak of many of these groups, they will pick and choose when it's convenient to show solidarity for affected Muslim communities all over the world," he added.
