‘Disposal of effluent’ into sea at PD being probed
A solid waste and public cleansing management company, SWM Environment Sdn Bhd (SWM) is investigating the allegation that one of its cleansing trucks had discharged effluents into the sea.
A solid waste and public cleansing management company, SWM Environment Sdn Bhd (SWM) is investigating the allegation that one of its cleansing trucks had discharged effluents into the sea.
A statement from the company today said stern action would be taken against those responsible for the act.
“SWM takes the allegation seriously and cannot accept such an act regardless whether it was done by the company’s employees or its appointed subcontractor,” the statement said.
The statement also said that SWM apologised to the public if the incident had truly occurred.
“We highly appreciate feedback from the public and have a dedicated team to tackle public complaints such as this. If any member of the public happens to see such an upsetting incident, please call the toll-free line 1-800-88-7472,” the statement said.
A photograph of the ‘Ultra Whack Vacuum Cleaner’, said to belong to SWM, discharging the effluents into the sea at Batu 1, Port Dickson was posted on social media and the incident was alleged to have taken place yesterday.
