Which part of Hindraf MOU has gov't honoured?

YOURSAY ‘Will the gov’t show what actions have been taken after the MOU signing.’

Hisham joins 'Waytha-whacking' tweet crew

Ferdtan: Three senior ministers whacked their former junior colleague (not even a full minister) for resigning and for bad-mouthing their president.

First, it was Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, then Housing and Urban Well-being Minister Abdul Rahman Dahlan, and now Defence Minister Hishammuddin Hussein.

It is highly overkill in dealing with criticism for PM Najib Razak, P Waythamoorthy’s former boss. We are not surprised to note that they are only from one party - Umno. It is so typical of their DNA - bully of the minorities.

I guess more Umno leaders will join in the “Waytha-bashing”. To them it’s fun and good sport targeting those little Hindraf boys.

In the past with all the warnings given to Waythamoorthy not to fraternise with Umno, he didn’t listen. Obviously he had it coming to him.

Odin: Hishammuddin, you are correct. Your government has indeed been sincere in helping the Indian community all these six decades. I sympathise with you all.

Despite the fact that you have done such a wonderful job, Waytha and the rest of the Indian Malaysians are bellyaching.

They have forgotten that hundreds of thousands of their fellow Indians are stateless, although these people are descended from Indians who arrived to settle down in Malaya more than a century or so ago.

They have been unable to see the big numbers of Indians when they walked into any government departments and GLCs (government-linked companies).

They have failed to notice the tens of thousands of Indians who have been given scholarships to pursue their tertiary education - and mostly at world-renowned universities, too.

They have been blind to the army of Indians who have become millionaires and billionaires through the courtesy of your government.

These Indians are really ingrates, aren't they, Hishammuddin?

Ipohcrite: When it comes to whacking BN's detractors, with or without just cause, Hishammuddin is certainly quick and able to lend his voice.

But when it comes to doing his job and being a responsible minister, especially in the current racially turbulent times, he is conspicuously silent, indifferent and bereft of ideas.

Gravity: Whatever happen to our defence strategy, minister? The Sulu ragtag army just walked in and killed our policemen and it took the entire army as well as the air force to get these intruders out.

Next, we had the Chinese warship just 80km from our border and not a whimper from you.

Oriole: To acknowledge failure, take responsibility for it and to voluntarily step down requires some strength of character. Whether you agree with Waytha's choices or not, this action has set the bar higher on the link between leadership and accountability.

Hishammuddin and the other third class politicians of his party have no concept of the level of integrity required of those in positions such as theirs. Which is why these people in positions of power can plunder the rakyat's coffers for ‘lembu’ (cow) projects and not pay it back.

So the more they bark on this matter, the poorer they look in comparison.

Geronimo: Let's admit it, Hishammuddin, right from the very outset, Umno Baru has no intention of honouring the agreement signed with Waythamoorthy, just as you people did not honour the Malaysian Agreement with Sabah and Sarawak, the Haadyai pact with Communist Party of Malaya (CPM) leader Chin Peng, the 17-point demand with Suqui and last but certainly not least, the 10-point solution regarding the Allah issue drawn up by your colleague in the cabinet, Idris Jala.

To know who is actually telling a lie, you or Waytha, highlight each item of the MOU (memorandum of understanding) and let us know which one has been fulfilled.

During the nine months, we are sure at least two or three items would have already been carried out, or didn't they?

Come on, Hishammuddin, admit it. Waythamoorthy's appointment was to buy time and on top of that, it is nothing more than a PR (public relations) exercise for Najib to show that he "cares".

ACR: Waytha has to be commended for yet again prodding Umno to display its true colours. Hishammuddin does not know the meaning of sincere and selfish.

Umno was never sincere in addressing any of the issues in the MOU with Hindraf and is the most selfish party in the BN family - everything for them and their ilk. Now, that sentence accurately carries the meaning of sincere and selfish.

Cry, My Beloved Country : Rhetoric aside, understandable damage control notwithstanding, will the government make public what the alleged 32 items and promises were, and show what actions have been taken after the signing of the MOU to actualise the alleged 32 items and promises.

Has the government the courage to take Waytha to court for the serious allegations he has made or lift the OSA (Official Secrets Act) on relevant documents to put the information concerned into the public domain?

Armageddon: Umno strategy in creating racial tension and a permanent divide among races is working well. I just wonder whether Waytha's resignation is part of the complicated formula.

We, the rakyat, will however stay united and speak in one voice, irrespective of race.

Waytha walked into an Umno trap
