YOURSAY ‘Umno only knows how to throw bones with a little bit meat..’

Minister shows 'proof' of Waytha's lies

Aries46: Housing and Local Government Minister Abdul Rahman Dahlan is not only telling lies but is trying to deflect from actual issues raised and deviate from Persatuan Hindraf Malaysia (PHM) leader P Waythamoorthy’s accusation that PM Najib Razak failed to honour the BN-PHM MOU, and in so doing has betrayed the Indian poor.

Abdul Rahman speaks in terms of millions in aid to Indians allocated to agencies but that is not what is in contention. Najib specifically signed the MOU with Hindraf and Waythamoorthy was appointed to oversee its implementation.

Waythamoorthy was a man with a mission for a noble cause and not there to play politics and fit into the system. For that, we have MIC, People’s Progressive Party (PPP), etc, that excel in politicking at the expense of the Indian poor.

Onyourtoes: Waythamoorthy was too naïve and perhaps opportunistic to walk into the deal with Umno. But the one that misled Hindraf was Umno and Najib.

If all those stated in the report card were credible, Hindraf and Waythamoorthy would not have gained traction and come into existence in the first place.

I am glad the people have finally realised that Umno will never change. It is a government of the racists, by the cronies and for the well-connected.

For decades, I have watched how Umno played the game of tokenism and dishing out of crumbs. Put it this way, if you find an Indian receiving something on TV, I am assure that is the only one, got it?

Pemerhati: Abdul Rahman is another lying Umno minister either trying to curry favour with Najib like Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar or one of the ministers directed by Najib to tell lies.

The Hindraf MOU was specifically designed to implement many programmes to help the poor and marginalised Indians and overcome the previous policy of dropping a few crumbs to the community and then making a lot of noise about it.

When Najib told Waythamoorthy to work within the system, it meant that the same old system of giving crumbs to the Indians and then making high decibel noise about it would continue and all that was stated in the MOU would not be implemented.

When Waythamoorthy realised this after meeting Najib 16 times in eight months, it must have become very clear to him that Najib had no intention of allowing him to implement the MOU.

Since there was nothing for him to do, as Najib only wanted him to work with the other agencies which were continuing to hoodwink the Indians by just giving crumbs, he did the honourable thing and resigned.

Mr KJ John: Sorry, Abdul Rahman, but two swallows do not make the summer. Anecdotal stories do not give the big picture. Also, remember Hindraf is not MIC.

Therefore, their storyline needs to be different. Maybe you all still do not understand why Hindraf grew. Maybe it is time again for them to march. Please reveal the MOU and let the people decide.

Jstom: All these millions of ringgit will just go elsewhere if there's no one whom they have to report to.

Since Waythamoorthy was appointed for the Indian welfare, these ministries should have sent him regular feedback on what was disbursed to Indians and its effectiveness on the ground. Without such reports, of course he will feel that nothing was done.

Sheila Nair: To me, BN just missed a great opportunity. Instead of saying Waythamoorthy is not a team player who does not fit into the system, it should have given him the relevant allocation to complete the job.

Anonymous #59879079: Abdul Rahman, so what did you do with the RM35 million? No prizes for guessing the right answer.

Mushiro: So Abdul Rahman wants us to believe that Waythamoorthy is not interested to be a deputy minister and also he is not interested to help the Indian community.

And Najib and Umno is helping the Indian community as to how they have been doing the last 50 years. But why is Najib not answering Waythamoorthy?

Vgeorgemy: Umno only knows how to throw bones with a little bit meat on them instead of comprehensive solutions to eliminate the poverty.

Debater: Why waste time? In the Kajang by-election, Hindraf should throw their support behind Anwar Ibrahim and PKR to show them they mean business. Arguing who is right or wrong makes no difference. In a democracy, you protest with your votes.

Pputeh: One of the steps taken by the government, as quoted in New Straits Times’ report card , "Resolving the long-standing Kampung Buah Pala issue and providing homes to Indian families who were abandoned by the Pakatan-led state government in Penang."

Sorry, I thought this was done by the Penang state government. Now look who is taking the credit for somebody's sweat.
