Burglars broke into Pahang state executive councillor Shahiruddin Ab Moin's house in Jalan Medan Tok Sira, Kuantan and carted away goods worth about RM10,000 early today.
The break-in was discovered by his 23-year-old son who arrived from Kuala Lumpur at 3.05am, said Kuantan police chief ACP Mohd Jasmani Yusoff.
He said the son saw the kitchen door ajar while the roof tiles were ripped off.
"He also found that household items were scattered in all the rooms while a 60-inch LCD television in the living room and a video player in his bedroom were gone," Mohd Jasmani told Bernama today.
The son, who is studying at a private institution of higher learning, lodged a report at the Kuantan Police District Headquarters here at about 5am.
Mohd Jasmani said the burglars were believed to have entered the house from the roof and left through the kitchen door by forcing open the grill.
"The police, however, found fingerprints believed to be that of the burglars and are hot on their trail," he said.
No one was home when the break-in occurred as Shahiruddin, who is state cooperatives, entrepreneurship and consumerism committee chairman, and Dong assemblyman, was said to be visiting his constituency with his family.
