'EGM not because MCA in haste to rejoin cabinet'

Onyourtoes: MCA President Liow Tiong Lai, for more than half a century, the problems of Chinese were not solved, instead they have become worse.

During that time, MCA had full participation in the cabinet, in fact, with some of you holding key positions like finance and trade and industry.

But over the years, the influence and participation have continued to decline to the extent that the spirit of the Alliance and later BN, has long gone.

Today, does it matter whether MCA is in or out of BN or the cabinet? Tell me what can wallflowers do?

Fair Play: Who is Liow trying to kid? MCA, the Chinese guilds, associations and businesses only serve their own interests. Besides, the majority of the Chinese Malaysians are with either DAP or PKR.

Anonymous #79199503: They should propose that Liow and MCA deputy president Wee Ka Siong do not accept the cabinet positions and instead pass them to the second echelon leaders of the party.

Mushiro: Isn't the EGM to give some credibility to Umno to claim that Chinese are represented in the government? Umno will give the MCA some crumbs and the MCA leaders will obediently start wagging their tails. With this attitude, how can the MCA ever gain some dignity? It is a beggar’s mentality.

Just_A_Rakyat: Please explain how a party with less than 10 percent of the community support can claim to represent them. Have you got no shame or honour?

Siang Malam: Poor Chew Mei Fun - she will be the first the voters will show their displeasure, at their betrayal by MCA.

Martha: How can the problems of the Chinese community or any non-Umno party be solved as long as they are in BN? Don't talk crap. Don't even give us false hope. Enough of this rubbish. The only way out is to put the opposition in Putrajaya.

Speaking sense: I have a suggestion for Liow and company. Since you say this is what the people and the Chinese want, why don't all your MPs and Aduns resign and stand again in by-elections on the platform of rejoining Umno's BN as ministers, and see how many of you will get reelected?

Multi Racial: Another lie again. Obviously it is because MCA leaders like Liow want to be minister. Otherwise why call for another EGM when the proposal was thrown out by the previous EGM which was just a few months ago? There is a saying, “if he does not say anything, nobody will say he is dumb”.

Anonymous #23456263: If that is the logic, why did the party resolve not to join the cabinet in the first place? When you join the cabinet, you will be even more chicken to say anything, for fear losing privileges.

The ills in this land, from PKFZ to rent-seeking to gerrymandering and suppressive laws, have the backing and connivance of this party. Solve what problems?

Paul Warren: Are Christians who are Chinese not Chinese anymore? They are having problems too. MCA not bothered? After all they are suffering from laws passed by MCA.

Kee Thuan Chye: Is it to serve the interests of Chinese businesses wanting contracts from Chinese ministers? Is the thought of getting potential kickbacks in the minds of would-be Chinese ministers?

Clearwater: The problems of the Chinese community are far beyond MCA's problem-solving ability.

Part of the solution may lie in Umno's hands but they won't do anything about it. It's up to us as individuals to solve our own problems. I have no faith in MCA leaders to do anything constructive at all.

Hold Awam Accountable: This would seem to be a shallow remark from an immature person. To say that the blocking of a Facebook account has given him the happiest day of his life, Shen Yee Aun, the president of Malaysia Youth Rights Movement, has revealed that he has had a really pathetic and deprived life to be so easily made happy.

Idiot: Shen, your statement shows immaturity ... grow up and be more professional in your statements.

Wira: What is this ‘Malaysia Youth Rights Movement’? How many members or followers are there in this movement? Is it a sub-twig of MCA/Umno?

Anyway, this Shen fellow epitomises the worst there is in MCA. That is why the Chinese have rejected this party in two successive general elections with increasing ferocity.

Basically: What is this unproven Red Bean Army compared to the proven hundreds of paid BN cybertroopers and bloggers? It's sad that they have to resort to these cheap tactics to stop people from learning the truth, but it won't do any good. Just makes them look pathetic.

Headhunter: Should this be a surprise, what with the recent crackdowns on freedom of speech?
