Nasrudin Hassan's tenure as PAS Youth chief was often associated with his opposition to concerts and Valentine’s Day.

So, it came as a surprise when the Temerloh MP picked up a guitar for the party’s  ‘Street Dakwah’ (religious propagation) programme.

Wearing a turban and with guitar in hand, Nasrudin joined in with a band to perform at the Sogo department store in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday evening.

In a Facebook post, he described the performance as a variation of modern dakwah.

"It was very effective but requires commitment from us," he said.

Nasrudin, who said he is still learning to play the guitar, attracted surprised responses.

"I didn't know you knew how to play the guitar," said a user.

PAS Youth, now under the leadership of Suhaizan Kaiat, took less of a hardline stance on Valentine's Day earlier this month, asking that ‘Street Dakwah’ be promoted instead.
