Malaysiakini, fear not the cowards

YOURSAY ‘This is the typical response - when they lose an argument, they get physical.’

Duck, red paint at Malaysiakini's office

Ksn: Sick minds at work, Malaysiakini . But it shows how these sick people dislike true journalism.

But as Malaysiakini CEO Premesh Chandran said, if nothing is done to stop these culprits for good, it is an invitation for big trouble for all. These sick people should not believe that they are exempted from punishment when trouble breaks out.

I hope the police, the home minister, the prime minister and the government as a whole take notice of the idiotic actions of those sick fellows. Silence is not golden here. It is a disaster for Malaysia.

Versey: Those behind such barbaric acts are not only cowards but quite stupid. Why do they target an established and well-respected online media in such samseng (gangster) way?

Aren't they sending a message to the world that despite the mainstream media at their disposal, they could not defend their stand? And why not?

The police must take prompt action to stop such lawless gangs, or else the public and the world at large will lose their remaining little respect and trust in them.

Francis Siah: I’m confident that my friends in Malaysiakini will never allow such dastardly acts to distract or deter them from carrying on with their good work. Soldier on, boys and girls. Be not afraid of cowards.

Boiling Mud: When the voices and influence of a quarter is diminishing from day to day, the only thing to do out of desperation to be heard or seen is to do vile things for attention.

It is like the struggle of a trapped animal. It is unfortunate that a drop of ink can spoil a whole vault of milk.

Kangaroocourt: This is the typical response of the bully. When they lose an argument, they get physical. Brawn makes up for lack of grey matter. It’s best to stay calm and ignore their provocations.

WDA: They can paint the entire building red and dump a truck load of animal carcass of every species if they wish. They can instigate all they want, but it will not get a tit-for-tat response from the civilised people from the other side of the fence.

Hopefully, this cowardly act was carried out by some random intelligently-challenged people with time to kill and not a coordinated evil plan by some irresponsible group.

Tiredofsuchnonsense: The non-action by the police is making the criminals bolder by the day. Soon, there will be lawlessness in Bolehland and it will be too late to restore law and order.

Cry, My Beloved Country: "If nothing is done to stop such actions, if nobody is brought to book, we can expect things to get worse,” said Premesh.

There is always selective investigation and time consuming peregrinations for justification. But who the devil incarnate might be is common knowledge.

Yes, more votes lost and the desire to work for change even stronger. Every provocation of this nature thus far has been counter-productive. Malaysians and Malaysiakini will have the last laugh.

Sinner: The government should resign for encouraging such provocation by keeping silent and not doing anything about it.

Myop101: Will the police please act against these troublemakers? By the way, these troublemakers have given more publicity to Malaysiakini and Seputeh MP Teresa Kok to find out more for themselves and watch her video .

Ferdtan: For once, I believe it is not the work of PM Najib Razak’s (or Rosmah Mansor’s) supporters.

After the first demonstration and especially the silly threat of offering a reward to slap Teresa Kok by some NGOs with regard to her Chinese New Year’s video parody, the whole affair of protests began to turn sour. It is obviously counter-productive, indirectly affecting the image of the PM.

It could be a faction (anti-Najib conservatives?) within Umno that is taking the opportunity to prolong the controversial issue with such a rash action - now targeting Malaysiakini .

I am sure Rosmah, purportedly the target in the video, would have preferred to move on and let the people forget about the whole embarrassing affair. So who wants the whole affair not to go away?

And what the better place to target (sorry) - Malaysiakini - the place where all the news are.

These opportunists are ‘killing two birds’ (a chicken before and now a duck) with one stone.

One, the usual ruse of these extremists in Umno that every non-Malay (as Teresa Kok is a Chinese) is now becoming bold enough to insult their race and religion.

Two, as expected, Najib would be elegantly silent - it would further the perception that the government (Najib actually) is weak. Pretentiously, the act was to protest on his wife’s behalf so Najib cannot take action against the culprits, if known.

Didn’t former Umno leader Daim Zainuddin in the interview with KiniBiz strengthen the perception that Najib is weak? He said it so clearly, “What the people on the ground want is a strong leadership.”

If we may ask, who exactly are ‘they’? The mind war is on - the noose is getting tighter around Najib's neck.

Shame_On_You: The righteous fights evil with the truth, while barbarians throw paint and duck. What a contrast.

Gggg: Rescue the duck and make it the symbol for suffering of the innocent ones in the hands of minority extremists.

Lamborghini: The work of despicable cowards who think they are doing God and their religion a favour.

God must be crying in agony over such shameless stupidity and cowardice and we as true Malaysians must stand up and speak up against such blatant acts of religious and racial provocations.

Not Confused: What stupid, childish and sadly-misguided little people we have in this country. The result of poor education and mindless brainwashing by the delinquent government.

Such cowardly actions, done at night so they can't be seen. What is the point? Seriously.

Wira: Malaysiakini , the attack is a recognition that your online paper is on the right track. Congratulations.

Damntlwbn: From the acts of samseng, you can imagine the kind of government we have. It condones their actions, like stating that offering money to slap a person is not a crime , and inciting racial hatred by threatening to spill the blood of certain race is fine - that is why these samseng are getting very bold.

A Voice From The Wilderness: Malaysiakini , you have earned your stripes. Yes, keep the paint on your signboard, it will eventually, become a historical sign of your heroic achievements operating under difficult times.

Khris: Whatever colour of paint, or be it chicken or duck you guys choose to throw at the Malaysiakini office, we all know that Malaysiakini will always paint the truth and nothing but the truth. Malaysiakini is the voice of the people and it is the people’s favourite online news portal.

Davidfsc: There is no prize for the correct answer to "who did it". We all know who the perpetrators are behind this act of cowardice.

YUNoAnon: The authorities are still showing that they are biased, inept, inefficient, slow and do not care about such attacks. Till today, there is no progress in the investigation into Kok's case. And nothing on the church and mosque incidents in Penang.

The police need to be seriously tested. Let's have Utusan Malaysia's building vandalised in the same manner. Or the home minister's car or house. Maybe then we'll see how efficient and effective they are.

Nes: Duck? I thought only chickens are used for such ‘black magic’ ritual. Our intelligence-challenged goons cannot even tell the difference between chicken and duck.

Anonymous_40a7: "There is a closed-circuit television camera at the busy intersection outside the office. I hope it’s working," said editor-in-chief Steven Gan.

I bet 10 bucks that the CCTV isn't working.
