In-fighting in PKR, which continues to rage on despite the controversial ‘Kajang Move’, seems to be irking its Pakatan Rakyat partner DAP.

In a statement today, DAP advisor Lim Kit Siang ( left ) sent a clear message to its ally to get its house in order so as not to shame to coalition in the March 23 Kajang by-election.

“(A) house divided cannot stand - Anwar's real enemies in the Kajang by-election are not independents, MCA or even Umno but Pakatan Rakyat/PKR feuds and infighting,” he said, referring to PKR's candidate Anwar Ibrahim.

“In the Kajang by-election, we can only suffer defeats and setbacks of our own making.”

According to Lim, winning Kajang by a slimmer majority than incumbent Lee Chin Cheh's majority of close to 7,000 will affect more than just the political career of  Anwar, who is also PKR de facto leader.

Instead, he said, it will have ramifications upon three million residents of Selangor and 30 million Malaysians as it causes backlash on Pakatan.

“It is imperative that all the three Pakatan parties of PKR, PAS and DAP take immediate measures to close ranks, put aside our differences, ensure that we do not shoot ourselves in the foot and deny our children and children’s children the one chance in more than half-a-century for political change in Putrajaya,” he said.

Lim's statement comes hours before Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim is due to announce his intention to challenge Selangor deputy president Azmin Ali ( left ) in the party polls in April.

The Kajang Move - which saw the resignation a PKR assemblyperson to pave the way for a by-election - is among others seen as a way for Anwar to enter state assembly, take over as MB and quell the feud between Khalid and Azmin factions.
