Less than 10 per cent of 166,000 property owners protesting against the hike in assessment, attended the re-assessment objection hearing session conducted by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), said Federal Territories Minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor.
 
He said although DBKL had taken the initiative to conduct the sessions for the public to express their views and objections, the attendance was discouraging.
 
"When we hold sessions to hear objections and provide explanation, only then will they understand... they have forgotten that the assessment rate has not been raised over the past 21 years," he said after launching the Art Alley Kuala Lumpur today.
 
Also present were Mayor Ahmad Phesal Talib and DBKL director-general Mohd Amin Nordin Abdul Aziz.
 
It has been reported the assessment rate would be increased, in accordance with the Local Government Act 1976.
