The BN will go all out to court Kajang voters identified as being regretful for having voted for PKR in the 13th general election, Umno vice-president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said.

Zahid said his personal observation showed that voters regretted their choice of the PKR’s Lee Chin Cheh, who resigned to trigger the by-election that will allow party leader Anwar Ibrahim to contest on March 23.

"Kajang is my area, I live here. We will go on the offensive to attract this target group.

"They have realised that they made a mistake when they voted for PKR in the last general election," Zahid told a press conference in Kajang today.

He was echoing BN deputy head Muhyiddin Yassin, who had also said that despite entering the contest as the underdog, the coalition would work to expose PKR's shortcomings.

The Kajang by-election is fixed for March 23 with nominations to be filed on March 11.

Zahid hits out at Rafizi

On a separate matter, Zahid hit out at PKR director of strategy Rafizi Ramli for raising questions about the memorandum of understanding (MOU) on the water deal signed by the Selangor and federal governments.

Zahid said the agreement is for the good of the people of Selangor and attributed Rafizi’s opposition to an internal quarrel among PKR leaders.

"Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim ( right in picture ) has done his best in the interests of Selangor in (signing) the MOU,” noted Zahid, who is also the home minister.

"(PKR) should discuss the matter (internally). If Rafizi has a problem, it is between him and PKR leaders.”

Rafizi had yesterday expressed concern that Putrajaya may shortchange Selangor in delivering on the terms of the MOU.
