Perak Menteri Besar Incorporated will apply for a court order within 15 days to seize a land earmarked for the RM6 billion Kinta Lake District project from a group of illegal settlers.

Its chief executive officer, Aminudin Hashim said the group comprising 30 people had ignored three eviction notices since November last year.

“Even though we had extended the eviction notice following pleas from them, they still refused to budge. Instead, they had issued misleading statements,” he told reporters in Ipoh today.

He said Perak MB Inc had suffered huge losses as the 587.4ha Kinta Lake District project, which was approved on July 17, 2012, was supposed to be launched last year.

The 13-phase project, to be implemented in collaboration with the Ipoh City Development Sdn Bhd, encompasses housing, commercial, education and recreational areas.

The eco-friendly project will add to the development of landmarks in Perak complementing the balanced development concept by developing former mining land.

The illegal settlers had occupied the land to plant corn and oil palm seedlings, and breed cattle.
