The reinstatement of five sacked leaders into the Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) is expected to materialise by the end of the month.

Sarawak Assistant Community Services Minister Peter Nansian Ngusie, who is one of those expelled, said reconciliation efforts were being handled by SPDP and Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders.

“If everything goes well, we hope it will materialise by the end of the month as there are no more issues to resolve. We are not setting any conditions to rejoin the party.

“Party president (William Mawan Ikom) has said that they are willing to forgive and forget... let bygone be bygone,” said Nansian, who is also Tasik Biru assemblyperson.

Apart from Nansian, the other members of the group known as G5, are Sylvester Entri, Paulus Palu Gumbang, Rosey Yunus, and former Mas Gading member of Parliament Dr Tiki Lafe.

The five have repeatedly stated their Barisan-friendly stance despite being partyless, while Nansian, Entri and Rosey retained their assistant minister posts in the state cabinet.

“What is most important the objective can be achieved. I urge four other members of the group to rejoin SPDP together with me,” he said, adding that reconciliation would strengthen the SPDP and BN.

The five sacked SPDN leaders later had lunch with Chief Minister Adenan Satem where the reconciliation process was expected to be raised.

Adenan is scheduled to meet SPDP supreme council members at his office tomorrow.

Mawan had said that the G5 members were required to make formal applications to rejoin the party.

The group had been at odds with Mawan since their sacking in January 2010.

Entrie was sacked by the party for insubordination while Rosey, Paulus, and Tiki quit SPDP.
