Construction of the first phase of the Kuantan Chong Hwa High School will be ready by the end of this year, said MCA president Liow Tiong Lai.
The first phase of the project, costing RM20 million, comprised a building which could accommodate 160 Form One students.
“Once the first phase is completed, construction of the second phase will be carried out, where we need about RM30 million for the purpose,” he told reporters after visiting the temporary building of the Chong Hwa High School in Jalan Gambang in Kuantan today.
He said MCA and the school board of governors were conducting various programmes to raise funds for the construction of the second phase.
The school was approved as a private educational institution on July 26, 2012. It is the first Chinese private secondary school in Pahang and it adopts the Integrated Curriculum for Secondary Schools (KBSM).
The school is being built on a 6.07 hectare site in Inderapura, about six kilometres from Kuantan town.
