Inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar has warned of stern action against those involved in illegal assemblies following the decision of the Appeal Court in finding opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim guilty of sodomising his former aide.       

Khalid said any protests via illegal street assemblies were prohibited and police would monitor the situation nationwide and take stern action according to the law.

“I am urging all parties to be calm about the decision made by the Appeal Court today.

“I urge all parties not to hold any gatherings to protest as it is a legal process and objections should be made in court,” he said when contacted by Bernama today.

He was commenting on the decision of the Appeals Court today in finding Anwar guilty of sodomising his former aide, Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan.
