Putrajaya: MAS crash reports unverified

Gerard Lourdesamy : How long does it take to get confirmation? It is obvious that the plane did not land anywhere else and neither is it still in the air. So why is MAS and the Malaysian government in a state of denial?

It is grossly unfair to keep the families of the next of kin waiting for confirmation and giving them false hope as every hour that goes by the chances of finding survivors become remote.

Our prayers go to the passengers and crew of MH 370 and we commend them to the mercy of almighty god.

Coconut Candy : Pointing fingers and blaming one another during a difficult time like this is not helping anyone at all. My thoughts and prayers to all those affected by this sad incident.

Bamboo : The spinning culture is so prevalent, that a likely plane crash is covered up with some useless official statement given out by MAS. Even though it is bad news, at least be up front and let the relatives of the passengers have the real picture of what's in store.

Armchair Newspaper : Please, can MAS and Malaysian government inform and tell the truth? Why all these clumsy and evasive denials? The world presumes that the plane has crashed somewhere. Tell the world the status of the search and rescue operations - how many ships, aircrafts, from where, how big is the search area. Give hourly update.

The PM should speak to the press and answer questions and pick up the phone to call China, since most of the passengers are from there.. This is a crisis of international proportion and yet it seems the CEOs of MAS and Malaysia are failing in their duties. What an indictment on Najib Abdul Razak and the country.

Voice : After so many years of existence and operation the only dignity that was left for the airline to be proud of and cherished was its good safety record, and that has now gone as well.

Law of Karma : This incident really shows how good we are in the Bolehland. Switch on TV Malaysia, and one only hears passenger details and denials more than eight hours later! Switch to CNN and CCTV4 , one hears more detailed information and reports. And the first news break was from a foreign report even if this is MAS-related.

China’s leaders made a statement many hours ago, but where is our PM Najib? This deafening silence is definitely not golden. My empathy with all the family members whose loved ones are on board.

Puglet : I am following updates on Al-Jazeera but if you watch RTM1 and RTM2 , everything seems fine and dandy. The press conference conducted by our officials made me cringe and squirm in my seat. Sigh!!

LifeFlier : Missing from radar, no distress call (important clue), at the location where air space control change over between Malaysia and Vietnam, at the point when plane is at cruising mode (safest), 35 thousand feet (enough time to react in case of emergency), one 53-year-old captain and one 27-year-old first officer.

People need to know the causes and hopefully something can be done to minimise the chance for it to happen again. No joke here, it involves people's lives!

A voice from the wilderness: A plane does not simply disappear from te radar and no distress call was made. It is most likely caused by an explosion from outside the engine. Two possibilities, act of terrorists or poor maintenance. Will MAS be transparent and give a detailed report of what happened?

I just heard from a meet the press by MAS, the report read out was so pathetic. Must be half a day old stale news, stating only the flight schedule and composition of the passengers from various countries. What the public would like to know what the hell MAS is doing about it?

We now get second hand news from International media. China sent two navy ship to the suspected area of the crash.

Najib, why don't you send your submarines and join in the search? Are you afraid they may not find their way back to their base? Don't forget it is a Malaysian affair, other nations are just chipping in giving us a helping hand!

Clever voter : Malaysia has got off to a bad start into the new lunar year - drought followed by injustice to Anwar Ibrahim, and now this... Authorities need to take heed of this.

Ferdtan : We pray for the safety of the passengers and crew members. Our authorities, whether in private or government institutions, in future must take the compulsory course called 'crisis management' so that they can handle such an emergency well.

I remember we in a private company had attended such a course to prepare for any such emergency affecting our company. There was no sufficient and meaningful news in the press conference given by the Malaysian authorities. It is so wanting. We are sorry to say they don’t give us the confidence that they can handle it.

Quigonbond : It could have been any one of us. Now's the time for moral support for the families of those on the flight. After this, if at all the worst came to pass, there will be serious accounting all the way up to the shareholders of MAS.

A voice from the wilderness: It is not helpful to post unverified news, giving false hope to relatives of the passengers in that missing plane. The world today is equipped with the most modern facilities to detect difficult accidents in the sky and in the sea, so wait for confirmed news.
