9pm: There is jostling for kettles, stoves, irons and toasters which are given out to Kajang voters in the Taman Delima low cost housing estate by the MIC.
 
One speaker told the roughly 150 strong crowd: "If you have received BR1M, ICs and help, then vote BN."
 
But asked by Malaysiakini what he would do now that he has received a toaster, one recipient quipped: "Make toast!"

7.30pm: Chew hosts a dinner attended by about 80 people. It is a subdued affair despite the emcee's best efforts.

 
Former Kajang assemblyperson TC Choong urges voters to pick a "Chinese representative" as 41 percent of Kajang constituents are Chinese and have to be represented.
 
Chew echoed his views by saying an additional opposition Chinese voice is needed to represent the community's views.
 
6.45pm: Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin dubs PKR's "Kajang Move" as a "Kajang Coup", accusing the party of abusing the democratic process.
 
"The Kajang Move has become Kajang Default. The original Kajang Move involved requesting the incumbent to quit and having someone else contest. This is the Kajang Coup!
 
"(Now), no more Kajang Move. What do they mean by Second Kajang Move?" he asks, during a press conference in Kajang.

5.30pm: MCA deputy president Wee Ka Siong says Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim is to blame for traffic congestion in Kajang.

He says in approving the many development projects there, Khalid did not take into account the traffic and road systems.

He is referring to the launch of Pakatan’s Kajang manifesto by candidate Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, among which is to tackle traffic congestion.

5.10pm: Meanwhile at the Parliament lobby, PKR deputy president Azmin Ali insists that the Kajang Move is still on even though the party’s de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim will no longer be contesting.

Azmin admitted that the Kajang Move was initially intended to replace sitting Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim with Anwar.

Asked if this means the new by-election candidate PKR president Wan Azizah Wan Ismail will replace Abdul Khalid if she wins in Kajang, Azmin replied: “Let us win first, then we will discuss the next move.”

3pm: Chew today showed off yet another mobile stage, although today's version is not advanced as the one unveiled at Pantai Permai yesterday evening.

The one unveiled yesterday was a truck with a drop-down stage, with red-carpeted stairs and built-in amplifiers lining the stage, with the faces of Chew and Najib as the backdrop.

The truck/mobile stage, costing more than RM500,000, was launched by BN information chief Ahmad Maslan. It can carry a weight of 100 tonnes.

2.30pm: Deputy Defence Minister Abdul Rahim Bakri was treated to a 'war dance' by National Service alumni and a march by students of SK Leftenan Adnan, where a tribute to military veterans and WWII war hero Leftenan Adnan Saidin was held.

Fifty-five military veterans, mostly from Kajang, who had served during the Communist insurgency were awarded with Pingat Jasa Negara at the small primary school hall. More will be receive the same award later.

Asked why veterans from Kajang were chosen to be awarded first, he said: “It is a coincidence as we wanted to honour Leftenan Adnan who died at hands of the Japanese invaders on Feb 14, 1941.”

Leftnenan Adnan, whose family members were here today, is a Kajang native.

Mohd Anwar Mohd Nor, president of the Armed Forces Veteran Association (PVTM), which has more than 150,000 members, meanwhile said that veterans remain steadfast behind Najib.

Since the PVTM took over the Armed Forces Veteran’s Fund last year, it has raised more than RM4 million and will start disbursing grants and education, housing and health assistance to military veterans and their families starting this month.

11am: PKR candidate Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail holds her daily press conference at the party operations centre with PKR director of strategy Rafizi Ramli and PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim, who initially planned to contest the seat.

She launches election manifesto which in a bid to attract youth voters, promises to bring more M-League football matches to the Kajang stadium.

 

There is also a promise for better waste management, especially in garbage collection and disposal, which is high on complaints list of constituents.

 

She also promises to look into bad traffic jams and job opportunities, especially for the young.

10am: BN candidate Chew Mei Fun meets with taxi drivers at the Kajang taxi stand.

9.30am: PKR holds a press conference at a market in Chinese-majority area Sungai Chua over Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's discovery of a whole chicken for sale in Kuala Lumpur, for just RM1.

9am: Federal Territories MCA publicity bureau chairperson Lau Chin Kok questions if Wan Azizah will once again step down to make way for Anwar should his sodomy conviction be overturned following his appeal.

"PKR's excuse that Wan Azizah is the best person to take over Anwar must be a joke. We know that she is not really interested in playing politics, as we have already seen her step down once to allow Anwar to become the Permatang Pauh MP.

"Thus it can be safely assumed that she will step down once again for Anwar if his conviction is set aside. So is PKR’s reasoning to field Wan Azizah simply to cover up the fact that they have no other suitable candidate? Or is it to hide something more sinister? “ Lau asks in a statement.
