MH370 The Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) has slammed the efforts of those who engaged a bomoh to search for flight MH370.

Its director-general Othman Mustapha said Muslims should not be influenced or seek help from a bomoh as it is against Islamic teachings.

"Its not only futile but may invite the wrath of Allah. The use of alternative medicine is allowed by Islam, but it must not be against syariah law," Othman said in a statement yesterday.

He said that Muslims should have complete faith in Allah.

"Efforts to locate the missing aircraft should be accompanied with prayers seeking for divine intervention.

"I am confident that we will successfully find clues to the mysterious disappearance of the aircraft," Othman added.

The guidelines on alternative medicine, according to Islam are accessible via the Jakim website .
