The bomoh who performed highly publicised rituals at KL International Airport recently was not sponsored by BN, Umno or any government agency, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Shahidan Kassim said .

Instead, he called the bomoh, identified as Ibrahim Mat Zin, an "actor" who was mimicking the late P Ramlee in the comedy film Do Re Mi .

"This is like the old P Ramlee movie. A proper bomoh does rituals silently, in a room, not in the open.

"If in the open, that is a comedy act, not bomoh," Shahidan told reporters at the Parliament lobby today.

"It is not Umno's work to do comedies like this. Right now we are taking things seriously," he said.

Shahidan said the government was giving serious attention to finding the missing plane.

He went on to dismiss reports that Malaysia is losing its credibility in managing the crisis.

"The only one that is not happy is the media, so they come up with these stories. No other countries have expressed unhapiness with us," he claimed.
