No school in Negri Sembilan is closed because of the haze as the Air Pollutant Index (API) readings at all the monitoring stations are still below 200, Menteri Besar Mohamad Hasan said.

He said the Education Ministry’s directive for closure of schools due to haze was only when the API exceeded 200.

“All principals and headmasters have been given permission to close their schools if the API exceeds 200.

“A reminder has been sent to them on measures to be taken if the API in their area exceeds 200,” he told reporters at a ceremony for 59 government retirees in Seremban today.

Although the API in the state had not reached 200, he said, the school heads should use their own discretion to reduce, or not hold at all, outdoor activities for students.
