Bomoh threatens to sue over 'un-Islamic' criticism

Doc: Talk about a classic case of Dumb & Dumber. Firstly, Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) claimed that Raja Bomoh - purportedly called in by higher-ups to locate the missing MH370 - is indulging in un-Islamic practices.

Now Raja Bomoh is planning to sue Jakim, saying that his practice is in accordance with Islamic principles.

Looking into Umno's disastrous handling of Raja Bomoh and the missing MH370 plane, our tourism tagline 'Malaysia Truly Asia' should be changed to 'Malaysia Truly Confused', which is more apt.

Luke: The Raja Bomoh says quoting verses from the Quran makes it okay? Even infidel such as me know that these ridiculous acts have got nothing to do with true Islam, and to think that some of our top leaders believe in all this crap.

Where will these leaders lead our nation to? Bomohland, or perhaps Bodohland?

My Opinion: I hope the king bomoh will sue his critics for saying he is un-Islamic, but make sure he sues the right parties. Personally, I am very interested how bomohs justify their practice is of Islamic teachings; or vice versa.

Bad Head: We will support you to sue them. After all you are just doing national service following the invitation from an alleged top BN leader. Please disclose the name of the top leader. By the way, what numbers should I buy for this weekend's 4D?

Well, I suppose we must be thankful for small graces. In the midst of all this suffering and tragedy, there is some comic relief. Of course, it comes at a price - the pride of the nation.

By the way Raja Bomoh, the whole thing might have worked better if you had also brought along a RM1 chicken and some kangkung.

Doc: PM Najib Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor should consider using a flying carpet instead of a private jet when going on international trips. It can cut cost down, dramatically.

Hplooi: Sigh, despite their outlandish appearance and demeanour, their only 'crime' is to bring us international ridicule.

Unfortunately this can bring out the worst in certain quarters who deem it their moral right to assert a strict standard of moral and social etiquette (e.g. picking your nose in public may not be a crime, but may be socially offensive).

When the moral police, currently empowered under the law, starts to morph into vigilantism and ultra militarism, then we will have started to go down a slippery slope (taking this episode as an excuse).

It will just be a notch away to a strict definition of 'moral' and social etiquette, deviation from which will be criminalised. The 'Allah' issue is a good example of criminalising social convention.

FairMind: These people obviously don't understand Islam well. It is not the verses or words in the Quran that are important; uttering them doesn't make one Muslim or more religious than others.

These people are wrong in their thinking and understanding of Islam. It is proper for the Muslim elders or authorities to teach and correct their wrong thinking rather than, for example, jail them or ban the coconuts which they are holding.

This also holds true and similar to the use of 'Allah' word. The proper way is to educate the value of Islam from within, and not to ban the word 'Allah'.

Soo Jin Hou: So, the authorities see it fit to persecute Shia Muslims but have no problems with this deviant.

Doc: I think that it is very important that the other true defenders of the Islamic faith in Malaysia; Perkasa, Isma and Jati should provide their expert guidance on this issue.

Actually, I am surprised that they have not come out in full force to protest against Raja Bomoh like they have against the Christians.

Abasir: I had always thought that the much cited fear of "causing confusion among Muslims" was an irresponsible exaggeration.

But after the two pro bono (?) performances by His Holiness Dato Bomoh Sedunia, and the stupendous silence of the lamb-like muftis, imams and other defenders of the faith, I have changed my mind.

Confusion is indeed a real and present danger.

Lim Chong Leong: I don't know if it is Islamic or un-Islamic, but it is definitely mumbo jumbo. And Raja Bomoh can sue me if he wants to.
