Unperturbed by a bomoh's treat to "slap him like a crocodile", Khairy Jamaluddin retorted that the whole of Malaysia wanted to slap the shaman back for embarrassing the country.

He was referring to Raja Bomoh Ibrahim Mat Zin, who had performed a series of bizarre rituals at the KL International Airport to assist in the search of the missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370.

"He (Ibrahim) wants to slap me but I think the whole of Malaysia wants to slap him for embarrassing Malaysia," said the youth and sports minister, laughing off the threat.

"His action is akin to idol worship (syirik) and superstition (khurafat)... I don't want to entertain him," he added when speaking to journalists in Kajang this morning.

Khairy was accompanying BN's Kajang by-election candidate Chew Mei Fun for breakfast with voters at Sungai Jelok.

In a video recording yesterday, Ibrahim threatened to slap Khairy "like a crocodile" for urging the authorities to act against the shaman.

Among others, Ibrahim's followers had sat on a carpet, rowed as if at sea with one companion scooping the sides with a bucket and another holding up two coconuts.

In another ritual, Ibrahim held up two bamboo rods like binoculars, supposedly to search for the missing aircraft.

His antics made international news, forcing the Transport Ministry to issue a statement denying the government had any role in inviting the shaman.

In a separate matter, Khairy said he did not mean to insult PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail with his reference to her as a “puppet”.

"It is not that I want to speak negatively of her or that I wanted to insult her. It is just that she is a last minute replacement for (PKR de facto leader) Anwar Ibrahim (in the Kajang by-election),” he added.
