The daily press briefings on the MH370 crisis has been cancelled, citing the need for more time to answer queries from reporters following the revelation that the missing aircraft had been "deliberately" taken off course.

Earlier, reporters were told that there would be a briefing on the technical details of the latest findings during the press conference, and were invited to fill in their questions on blank A4-sheets of paper and submit it to the media secretariat.

However, when reporters returned for the 5.30pm press conference, they were told it has been cancelled because the relevant authorities needed more time to answer the questions.

"They are sitting on it right now," assured press officer Jagjit Singh, who announced the cancellation.

The next press conference is scheduled for 5.30pm tomorrow.

It is understood that about 10 sheets of questions were submitted, including one from Malaysiakini on a range of issues such as requests for more detailed maps and coordinates, and the reason why no air force had bothered to check on a stray and unidentified aircraft.

There are some 200 media representatives from all over the world covering the MH370 crisis from its ad hoc media centre set up in Sama-Sama Hotel, next to Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
