Only Banting, Selangor recorded an unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) reading as of 9am today.

The Department of Environment (DOE) website said the API reading in Banting was 142, up slightly from 135 recorded one hour earlier (8am).

It said 18 other areas recorded moderate API including Port Klang which recorded a reading of 110 last night.

The API reading for Port Klang at 9am was 86 while 32 areas recorded good API readings.

API at between 0-50 - good, 51-100 - moderate, 101-200 - unhealthy, 201-300 - very unhealthy, over 301 - hazardous.

The public can check the API status in their respective areas by going to the DOE portal at http://apims.doe.gov.my.
