The government has enhanced the School Based Assessment (PBS) and these changes to the system which irked many teachers will be unveiled on Tuesday.

Education Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said the PBS has been repaired  so that it can reduce the workload of teachers, after protest led to its suspension last month.

“Teachers no longer need to go online to upload data but can store data offline,” he said in his speech at Kajang High School today.

“The improvement is a result of his work of going down to the ground and listening to the concerns of the affected teachers,” he said, adding that more details will come on March 18.

Last month, the Education Ministry suspended the PBS system after complaints surfaced from the teachers’ union and school administrators as the workload was considered excessive.

PBS was introduced in 2011 and it replaced the annual examinations under the Lower Secondary Assessment (PMR) and Primary School exams (UBSR).
