Kurup shows true colours in Kajang
YOURSAY Only weeks ago, this hypocrite proposed removing ‘race’ from official forms.
Kurup: I did not use the word 'race'
Vote your own race, Kurup tells Kajang Chinese
ONG: In Malaysia, "orang kamu sendiri" means simply "people of your same race".
Tan Kim Keong: Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Joseph Kurup cannot be in charge of national unity.
His paradigm regarding voting for someone from your own race counteract what national unity is about. He has shown his true colours.
Tholu: Kurup, who is from a coalition party in BN, has openly belittled the Indian community in Malaysia.
Since his warped logic had called for voters to vote for a candidate from one's own race, there will be no Indians - whether from BN or Pakatan Rakyat - in Parliament as well as in state legislative assemblies.
This is simply because there is not a single parliamentary or state constituency where the Indians form more than 50% of the inhabitants or voters.
And he shouldn’t forget that by his twisted logic, the Malays should vote for PKR candidate Wan Azizah Wan Ismail since they comprise almost 50% of voters in Kajang.
MCA candidate Chew Mei Fun, even if 100% of the Chinese vote for her, is going to lose in the by-election. Could Kurup be actually insidiously sabotaging BN?
J Ng: Kajang Chinese must vote for Wan Azizah to show Umno that they are not racists. MCA does not deserve to have Chinese support as it has clearly shown that they are not only the 'underdog' but a 'running dog' as well.
Malaysians had been 'cheated' and 'lied' by the BN government for too long. Our government has become incompetent. We have shown the world this with our handling of the missing MH370.
And MCA under the Liow Tiong Lai and Wee Ka Siong combo is more interested with government positions so as to have a share of the cake with Umno.
Tan Soo Inn: Good grief. Vote your race, rather than on the basis of character and competence. This is precisely the race-based politics we are trying to move away from.
Spinnot: Only weeks ago, this hypocrite proposed removing ‘race’ from official forms but now he advised Kajang Chinese to elect their representative based solely on race.
Kit P: I'm pretty sure giving out bags of rice with BN logo on it on the campaign trail is an election offence, but I have zero expectations that the Election Commission (EC) will act on it.
Mushiro: Kurup, if you give rice, they will take, and if you give wheelchairs, they will take. If you give anything also they will take because it is not your father's money.
It is from the people's money that you shamelessly misuse so the people got the right to take back their money.
But when it comes to voting, we will vote whoever we like. And definitely not according to your advice.
Basically: Isn't it illegal for Kurup to use his PM’s Department’s funds to give out goodies and host a campaigning event for BN?
Who's paying for the rice and stuff - MCA, BN or taxpayers? In any case, the PM’s Department shouldn’t be involved in hosting any campaigning, gratis or not.
And MCA deputy chief Wee, every politician wants to be in Putrajaya. PM Najib Razak, who wants to defend it at all costs, is also by definition power crazy. Nothing wrong with that.
But clamouring for cabinet posts after vowing not to is pure cowardly. Don’t shift the focus, Wee. You guys have no spine.
Anonymous #40538199: Given that the population of the Chinese as a percentage of the nation's total population is declining, it would be stupid for the Chinese to vote along racial lines as it would lead to their representation in the government getting smaller and smaller.
The safest bet for the Chinese would be to give their votes to representatives coming from party which is law abiding, honouring the spirit of the constitution, embracing cultural diversity, non-supremacist and able to serve without racial considerations.
The Mask: A typical nincompoop BN minister without brain. Kajang is made up of 48.89% Malays and 40.8% of Chinese.
So if Kajang voters were to take Kurup's advice, Kak Wan (Wan Azizah) would win hands down.
Lim Chong Leong: I will vote not for my race not even for my human species because I will vote for a donkey even, as long as it is not for BN-Umno.
When are these morons going to understand that to the rakyat, race has nothing to do with anything because we already have monkeys in power like PM Najib Razak and his cousin, Hishammuddin Hussein, and now Kurup.
Bluemountains: The Chinese will never listen to such BN leader. Has he ever asked the Kadazans in Sabah to vote for Kadazans only? If so, PBS will still be ruling Sabah today and not Umno.
