Chew’s perverse logic on Kurup’s remark
YOURSAY ‘Telling others to ‘vote your race’ is not racist but, rather, the opposite?’
Chew: Kurup was not being 'racist'
Cantabrigian: Sorry MCA vice-president Chew Mei Fun, but I don't get your point that Minister in the PM’s Department Joseph Kurup was actually suggesting a multiracial political representation in Selangor when he requested the voters to choose "their own kind".
You beg the voters to make the "right" choice but at the same time you belittle their intelligence.
When you are going against a heavyweight like PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, you and your team can't afford to make foolish blunders like this. Or else, you might lose your deposit big time in Kajang.
Dood: What perverse logic... telling others to "vote your race" is not racist but, rather, the opposite of racist and being multiracial?
That alone makes me want to slap her and Kurup.
Old Timer: Chew, please don’t lower your dignity and integrity in wanting to win the Kajang by-election.
If Umno suggests (it happened so often) to voters to vote for their kind is considered as racist, why is it not racist to ask the Chinese to vote for Chinese candidate?
Aziz Kader: Funny, Kurup’s urging for Chinese voters to “vote for their own kind” is not racist. We want Malaysians to vote for Malaysians, not Chinese for Chinese and Malay for Malays.
Not Smart: Chew, if you are justifying that Chinese voters “vote for their own kind” and Kurup had clarified that he had not meant as what you had said, then it can be concluded that you are the one in fact promoting racism.
In this case, who will the Indians vote for, then? Chew, you are an intelligent lady, but since you are under pressure and seeing defeat coming your way, you are increasingly desperate and have turned senile.
You even blamed Selangor government for the death of youths at Bukit Jalil Stadium concert when you know which ministries supported and approved the concert.
You have lost the integrity that you had when you resigned from your position in MCA when Dr Chua Soi Lek got elected. Shame on you.
Peace&Justice: If you are not sure what Kurup said, go find out. But based on what he was reported to have said, he is racist.
Pakatan Rakyat has multiracial composition. The fact that you represent the Malaysian Chinese Association is itself a display of your own racist position.
Boiling Mud: It would be wise and better not to make any comment if you are not sure what this low-grade ‘minister of disunity’ said, Chew.
Your being too quick to rush to defend a racist does not bode well with any right-thinking Malaysians.
But then, I do not expect you to have any sense of right or wrong when you have been caught sharing a platform with those Perkasa goons.
Siang Malam: Why is MCA always acting as the apologist for BN ministers attacking or insulting the Chinese and Indian populace?
Anonymous#007: Chew seems to have forgotten it was MCA that had given up minister’s posts and other government posts.
Indeed, MCA has shown that 'having a voice' under BN is not enough. Why not show that there is muhibbah representation in the army, police, civil service, scholarships to overseas universities, top posts in GLCs (government-linked companies), business entrepreneurial funds, etc?
Ketuanan Rakyat: BN led by Umnoputras use race as basis for everything. Perkasa, MCA's buddy, asked Chinese ‘pendatang’ who are not happy with BN to go to China.
Yet MCA is happy to be openly seen with Perkasa. Kajang voters should reject racialism and vote for Pakatan.
Louis: Chew, you have lost all principles and pride ever since you were nominated as candidate in this Sunday’s Kajang by-election.
You spoke on the same stage with Perkasa and yet you denied associating with that racist party. By the way, do you still remember your surname?
Onyourtoes: Chew Mei Fun, I believe Kurup is not a racist, and I believe you are not a racist. But we are all victims of racism inculcated and nurtured for years so much so that all of us are racist without knowing it.
Have you seen child soldiers committing atrocities when they themselves were victims of atrocities committed earlier? Same here.
Lone_star: Can you advise a couple of your Umno assemblypersons to step down and allow others from BN, like MIC and Gerakan, to take over their seats through a couple of by-elections?
Surely Selangorians would not mind as by-elections are good for the electorate and there is the great reason that they will allow for a more ‘muhibbah’ Selangor assembly.
