YOURSAY 'Bribing voters with money is okay, but shouting kangkung is prohibited?'

EC frowns over provocation and kangkung

Ali BaBa & 40 Umknown Theives : The display of kangkung on polling day at the Kajang by-election was done by an individual. I don't see you complaining about the thugs on bikes revving the smoke at PKR.

Basically: Perhaps the Election Commission (EC) should frown more at vote buying and using government facilities and events to promote a candidate. That's clearly an offence, but carrying kangkung is a citizen's right.

Caripasal: Wow! Bribing voters with money is okay, but shouting kangkung is prohibited?

Kangkung: Umno's 'Elections Con‑mission' is now the official kangkung protector in Bolehland.

Kajang turnout 67pct at 4pm, final whistle goes

Don't Just Talk: Honestly, I don't know what the MCA candidate Chew Mei Fun thinks when the former Perkasa Youth and now Umno Baru Youth member Armand Azha and his group of motorcyclists rev their motorbikes for 10 minutes, from polling centre to polling centre just to annoy and drown out the sound of PKR supporters.

Their idiotic, childish, gangster‑type behaviour will certainly backfire on Chew Mei Fun and remind Kajang voters the type of leaders who are sponsoring them.

Cry, My Beloved Country: Hey, inspector-general of police, RMIV, isn't revving motorbike smoke an environmental offence? Where's the Environment Minister G Palanivel?

Foodforthought: 'One party worker is seen approaching Chinese voters saying "Chew Mei Fun" and "hua ren" (Chinese).' Racism is indeed entrenched in Umno‑BN.

MestiNya: If MCA represents the Chinese, then they should rightly take their China passports and 'balik Tongshan' to represent them. If they can't, then please shut up and start behaving like Malaysians, as true patriots or citizens of Malaysia.

SpongeBob: BN's lifeline is racial politics. Without it, they are doomed.

Appum: Looks like thuggish behaviour is the norm in all these by‑elections.

Samurai: If there is one thing this by-election shows, is MCA and BN has not changed a single bit, and never will.

Dr Suresh Kumar: The Indians should go out in full force and spoil their votes to remind politicians that their votes cannot be bought merely by dishing out rice bags and MGR songs. Let the politicians solve the myriad problems this community is facing before voting for a particular party or candidate.

Yesterday I visited the Kampung Subang folks, who have toiled in the palm oil estate for ages and their homes are hanging in a balance. Two weeks ago, about ten families lost their homes razed by fire. I asked them if the Pakatan government reps came there for any investigations, they answered unanimously, "No".

They said these politicians come there only during elections begging for votes, after that as usual they do their disappearing act. This fire incident could very well be arson to get these poor folks out of their land.

So what is the state government doing for its poor people? Indians must unite in solidarity and show that their votes are not for free.

Malaysia Truly Asia: For a seat that PKR feels it can make BN lose its deposit, they sure are taking no chances. This bodes well for BN/Umno/MCA/MIC as by the time GE14 comes along, PKR would be expended and will be paralysed.

DAP are the ones on trial today, can they make the Chinese do it again and again? They have done nothing for the Chinese, but to keep themselves relevant and win again their 38 seats they must spew hate against the MCA. Sounds like a recipe for disaster.

Mano: For far too long this country has been going downhill with BN-putras at the helm. MIC and MCA are mere puppets. Remember they did not whimper when former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad had proclaimed Malaysia an Islamic country ‑ too many occasions whence MCA and MIC ate the crumbs, felt satiated and did not raise any issue.

They can even bend to kiss the hands of people who are killing the nation for their benefit. Wake up, Kajang!

Kangkung, yelling matches soil polling day

James TCLow: Don't be a traitor to the Chinese, said a MCA vote canvasser? But MCA has been betraying the Chinese for umpteenth years now. So, they are not Chinese but merely running dogs.

Kalau: If I give my vote to Wan Azizah, I am giving back the seat to the Chinese since Wan Azizah is part Singapore Chinese too. Is this good enough for the racists out there?

Tembikai: MCA candidate Chew Mei Fun, NGOs remember you clearly for your lack of action when you were deputy minister of social welfare. You are known as NATO ‑ no action, talk only.

Well Thats Fantastic : The MCA man said, "Kajang is a Chinese seat, don't be a traitor to the Chinese."

IT'S A MALAYSIAN SEAT, YOU RACIST!
