Comedian Ali Mamak, 63, died from lung complications at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre (PPUKM) at 4.20am today.
Comedian Ali Mamak, 63, died from lung complications at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre (PPUKM) at 4.20am today.
Born Jantan Osman in Masjid Tanah, Malacca, Ali had been receiving treatment at PPUKM since being admitted yesterday due to breathing problems.
Daughter Normala,28, said her father was a strict person who always strive to provide the best for his family.
Ali leaves a wife, Rohani Wahab, 53, three children and six grandchildren.
His remains were buried at 11am at Qariah Dusun Tua Muslim Cemetery in Hulu Langat.
Ali rose to fame via the sitcom ‘Santan Berlada’ with fellow veteran comedians OS and Achappan.
He was also known as a comedy singer best remembered for songs peppered with social messages such as ‘Apa Dah Jadi’, ‘Joget Dimana Lah Jodoh’ and ‘Semua Naik’.
In 2008, Ali was bestowed the Darjah Seri Melaka (DSM) award by the Malacca state government which carries the title ‘Datuk’.
