Zahid blames China's press for fury in Beijing

ACR: There is some truth in what Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi says this time (surprising!) and Umno should know this - autocratic governments use the press for their own agenda.

China has nothing close to a liberal, transparent media and frustration of the mostly Chinese victims of this tragedy would soon be directed at their own government (for not taking a tougher stand) as no closure appears to be forthcoming in the MH370 tragedy.

Keeping the focus on Malaysia and its inept dimwits is the way to go. Bear in mind that the March 12 incorrect satellite data which wasted everyone's time in continuing the northern corridor search was from China.

I would maintain that our greatest omission was RMAF (Royal Malaysian Air Force) and that jingbang of four we put together to face the global media, with due regard to acting Transport Minister Hishammuddin Hussein's efforts.

Kangkungmania: It is interesting how when you and your media goons do the same, that it is acceptable. When others do the same to you, when you get a dose of your own medicine, you cry foul.

Well, you turkey, this one's on you. And this time, it is not just in the local media controlled by you. This time the world can see how incompetent the Malaysian government is because of your corruption and cronyism.

May some good come out of this tragic situation and may that good be the downfall of the BN government.

Pemerhati: If what Zahid says is true, then it means there are a lot of Chinese ‘Utusan’ in China that have a strong influence in moulding the opinions of the Chinese there.

But the thinking Chinese who have access to the Internet and/or alternative media, will understand that so far all that can be said about MH370 is that despite the combined efforts of several of the most advanced countries in the world, no one knows what exactly happened and where the plane is.

Wira: Indeed, the Chinese media are controlled with a shorter leash than those in Malaysia. There are thousands of ‘Utusan’ in the Middle Kingdom. So in effect, Zahid is blaming the Chinese government for stoking the fire.

Spinnot: Why did Zahid only blame China's press but let British tabloid Daily Mail off the hook? Is a person a "political fanatic" because he supports a political party? Why was the attempt to link MH370 to Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim?

You wasted other countries' time and resources for more than a week searching in South China Sea when you knew on day one from your radar that the plane had already turned back, and now you blamed the big screw-up on China, which released a wrong satellite image on the fifth day?

It took the search teams less than half a day to verify the Chinese mistake and the Chinese did apologise for this.

Donkey Kong: In some way, I feel sorry for the Malaysian government as this entire incident shows clearly it's out of its depth.

If they cannot solve potholes issue or stolen Air Force jet engines, they certainly cannot manage the mystery of a missing plane.

For a layperson, the fact that you had two concurrent searches in the South China Sea as well as the Straits of Malacca indicate that you either do not know what you are doing or was hiding some information.

Lamborghini: It is the nature of the proud and arrogant and insecure to always blame others when things go wrong.

Zahid, how sure are you of your facts? It is not just the Chinese who are angry but it is also the international press which have been following this tragedy who are giving the thumbs down to the incompetent way our government has been handling this issue.

If we don't look at our own weaknesses and learn from our mistakes, we will be condemned to repeat them again and again.

With ministers like Zahid and MPs like Bung Moktar Radin and academic clowns like Riduan Tee Abdullah, it is small wonder things are going from bad to worse in this country because we don’t admit our faults but are so quick to point fingers at others.

Such arrogance and immaturity is disgraceful.

CiViC: Is there anything that's not someone else's fault? This is typical BN mentality - never apologise and never admit fault, always blame others, better if Chinese.

Wiser: Minister, you seem to know more than others by defining that the disappearance of MH370 is an “accident”. Was there a accidental fire on board?

So you have concluded that it is not the pilot or co-pilot that the press had a great time of finger pointing and character assassinating during investigation that caused the 'lost' of MH370?

And it is not terrorists or hijacking? And is it so difficult to understand that relatives of those poor souls on board are looking for urgent answers of what happened to their loved ones?

Why finger point the Chinese press? Obviously the way we are looking after the relatives of the poor souls on board the plane is simply not right or good enough. Try something more acceptable. Be accountable.

Anonymous_3e86: The Malaysian government must take some of the blame for the way our ministers have handled the crisis. The Chinese (from China) were distraught and emotional at the loss of their loved ones.

Rather than pointing fingers at China's press media, Zahid should have just offered some sympathy instead. But knowing his character (from his past outbursts ) we can only expect such inconsiderate and bullying behaviour from him.

Tmf: I wonder does the home minister watch all those mainstream western media too and, far more important, does he understand their views of the world on Malaysia's handling of this catastrophe?

Patriot1: Tmf has made a good point. I really wonder Zahid actually reads foreign media? Malaysia media can be silenced with one stroke of the pen but he seems to have forgotten that we are now the focus of the world media.

A lot of people died and emotions are riding very high at the moment. People are looking for channels to vent their grief and of course there will also be some opportunists to capitalise on the situation.

Even a single word uttered in public will be scrutinised and any goof will eventually reflect on the calibre of our government officials. If you have nothing constructive to say, just keep quiet and let those appointed to do their jobs without having to do damage control later as well.

Please switch on the brain before putting your mouth into gear.

Slumdog: Zahid does not seem to have anything intelligent to say whenever he opens his mouth. Does he know something about MH370 that the rest of the world is not aware of to say in Parliament that the loss of the MAS plane was an accident?

When he opens his mouth, it seems only to change whichever foot was previously in there.
