Air quality has taken a turn for the worse in Banting with the Air Pollutants Index (API) recording a reading of 108 at 6pm today.

The Department of Environment in its website said also at 6pm, moderate API readings were recorded in Alor Setar (60), Bakar Arang (Sg Petani) (64), Bukit Rambai (51), Nilai (73), Port Dickson (58), Seremban (54), Jalan Tasek (Ipoh) (61), Kg Air Putih (Taiping) (53), SK Jalan Pegoh  (Ipoh) (66), Seri Manjung (72), Tanjung Malim (57), Kangar (55).

Perai (68), Seberang Jaya 2 (Perai) (55), USM (74), Kuala Selangor (77), Port Klang (78), Petaling Jaya (65), Shah Alam (66), Kemaman (68), Batu Muda (Kuala Lumpur) (67) and Cheras (Kuala Lumpur) (58).

An API reading of between zero and 50 indicates good air quality; between 51 and 100, moderate; between 101 and 200, unhealthy; between 201 and 300, very unhealthy and over 301, hazardous.

The public can find out the API readings for their areas from the DOE portal at http://apims.doe.gov.my .
