MH370 After a proposed briefing yesterday was cancelled due to acting Transport Minister Hishammuddin Hussein not being in the country, a government briefing for Pakatan Rakyat MPs on the MH370 issue has been rescheduled for next Tuesday.

DAP parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang said  Pakatan and Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Shahidan Kassim have agreed on a briefing to be held at an unspecified location on the night of April 8.

"Either the prime minister or Hishammuddin will have the briefing. I hope this time, we can see through with the briefing," Lim said.

He said that Pakatan would send a notice to Shahidan to confirm this briefing date.

Pakatan was previously critical of the government's move to brief only BN backbenchers at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur recently.

Hishammuddin, who was scheduled to give the briefing yesterday, left for Hawaii to attend an Asean defence summit for two days.

Pakatan said yesterday that they would not take a briefing from anyone else apart from Hishammuddin or Najib on the missing plane crisis.

However, Shahidan said that the briefing did not happen because Pakatan did not send a notice to confirm the briefing date.

“Now there is a real urgency for the briefing because the whole issue is just becoming more complicated,” PAS information chief Mahfuz Omar said.

However, Shahidan, in a press conference later, disputed Lim’s claims, and said that he did not finalise the briefing for next Tuesday.

Shahidan said that he would still need a notice from Pakatan Rakyat to be sent to him about the dates and location, and he would then be able to ask Hishammuddin or Najib to check their availability at the suggested date and time.

“They do not want any other government officer apart from Hishammuddin or Najib,” Shahidan said.
