Bung: Racial voting better for mixed-raced voters

Debater: In order to have racial voting, first you will have to define ‘race’ objectively. It is near impossible.

Plus the fact that in Malaysia there are so many ‘races’ and mixed marriages, how do one start a system of classification boggles the mind.

Only morons like BN ministers can even consider such a system. Moreover, does it matter who represents me?

As long as he or she does a good job, not corruptible and an able leader, his or her race is not important.

Fairnsquare: The country must take action against racial polarisation. Indeed, BN must rid itself of ministers who stir racial issues. This is getting really nauseating and disgusting.

Being the majority does not give one the right to do whatever he or she likes. These illiterate ministers from the backwaters do not care about racial harmony and must be disciplined.

Spinnot: Has this voting for "one of your own kind" become BN's official policy now? It was a proposition made by Joseph Kurup - the minister of national (dis)unity - in the recent Kajang by-election.

Imraz Ikhbal: It is high-time a law be passed banning any individual with sub-level IQ to run as MP, leave alone be voted or appointed as one.

Modern science has proven that racism is positively correlated to low IQs. Only the uneducated would make such nonsensical propositions like voting for your own race.

And on the topic of mixed parentage, my kids have seven different bloodlines but they shall be nurtured to embrace virtues and to utterly despise racism.

They shall revere leaders notwithstanding race, creed or religion. Of certainty, they shall be taught to vote a leader far from any of their own bloodline if need be so long he/she is noble, fair and competent to do the job.

SpongeBob: In which direction does the country want to go? Are we going to identify ourselves as Malaysians with our race attached each time one is made reference to or as just Malaysians irrespective of our race?

Once we are clear in our choice, we can then decide whether we want a racial-line or non-racial-line voting structure.

A word of caution, in multicultural society, a racial-line voting structure will encourage indirectly racism and segregation much more deeper in the real sense.

Although, there will be proper representation but I doubt there will be a true sense of harmonious feeling among the races. Moreover, if a particular race supports the opposition, that race will become a victim of the ruling party.

In non-racial-line voting, this system will produce great leaders irrespective of race who are willing to serve all races.

The current political structure of BN which practices some degree of racial-line voting has resulted intentional or unintentional hostile, derogatory, or negative racial slights and insults toward people of different races and political parties in public, print and social media.

These aggressive slights are very rampant now due to racial-line politicising. Does BN and Umno wish to continue these slights and rebuffs with the new more refined racial-line voting structure?

Maharaja: I personally do not see how Umno and BN can be better off with voting based on race.

If 35 percent of non-Malay vote for the opposition which is more likely without the 'disturbances' of Umno, Pakatan Rakyat only require less than half the Malay votes to take over the government.

Besides Kinabatangan MP Bung Moktar Radin did not even check his facts in his claim that "in Singapore they have elections according to ethnic races as suggested by the minister".

This statement is incorrect as Singapore does not practice election according to ethnic groups.

Apa Ini?: It’s absolutely time for Bersih 4.0. With Minister in the PM’s Department Shahidan Kassim and Bung Moktar alone, we have leaders who sabotage the democratic process, as well as free and fair elections based on our constitution.

These morons are led by a tight-lipped PM who has failed all Malaysians by allowing them and countless others to spout their racist ideas. Speak up, Najib or ship out!

Proud Malaysian: These racists might as well propose that some Malaysian individuals should have only half a vote each.

Lamborghini: How can Malaysia ever hope to become a developed nation with MPs that have underdeveloped, simplistic minds like Bung Moktar and Shahidan?

Their sheer ignorance and silly arrogance is such a disgrace to the so-called Malaysian parliamentary democracy. As a Sabahan, I cringe every time Bung opens his big mouth.
