In a botched attempt to steal cows in Kampung Keladi, Kedah, two suspects were set upon by four men after a car chase to Machang Bubuk in Bukit Mertajam on Tuesday.

Seberang Perai Tengah deputy police chief Supt Baharom Abu said the two men, aged 26 and 27, had attempted to steal cows at Kampung Keladi before stumbling upon the four men.

“They fled in a car and were pursued by the group of men to Sungai Lembu in Machang Bubuk here where the suspects’ car crashed and skidded by the road side,” he told reporters in Bukit Mertajam yesterday.   

He said the two men, who were unemployed, had been sent to Seberang Jaya Hospital for treatment and police have detained the four men, aged between 34 and 52, to assist in the investigation.

Police have also apprehended the two injured men and had their case referred to Kulim police, he said.

Baharom also advised members of the public not to take the law into their own hands and should instead get police assistance.
