A total of 18 areas recorded moderate Air Pollutant Index (API) as of 12 noon today.

According to the Department of Environment (DOE) website, the 18 locations were Nilai (75), Port Dickson (66), Banting (66), Muar (63), Bukit Rambai (63), Port Kelang (63), Batu Muda (62), Balok Baru, Kuantan (61), City of Malacca (60) and Shah Alam (60).

Moderate readings were also recorded in Petaling Jaya at 59, Putrajaya (56), Seremban (56), Tanah Merah (55), Jalan Tasek, Ipoh (52), SK Jalan Pegoh, Ipoh (51), Kangar (51) and Cheras (51).

An API reading of between zero and 50 indicates good air quality; between 51 and 100, moderate; between 101 and 200, unhealthy; between 201 and 300, very unhealthy and over 301, hazardous.

The public can refer to the www.apims.doe.my portal of the DOE to find out the API reading for their areas.
