Kadir: Anwar fears being forgotten

Onyourtoes: Veteran journalist A Kadir Jasin, despite your long years in journalism, I don’t think you understand new politics and what true democracy is all about. Alternatively, you are just indulging in intellectual corruption, writing what your masters want.

 

DAP chairperson Karpal Singh has a choice, but PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim has none. Anwar must contest the party president’s post.

 

Anwar must make sure someone absolutely loyal to him will take over if the situation warrants it. His job and his commitment to Malaysians are not met yet.

 

This is not just about what Anwar wants; it is about what we Malaysians want. By just looking at what he has gone through alone, Anwar is an extraordinary leader.

 

None of the leaders in Umno-BN would be able to last for one week what he has endured for more than a decade. Tell me who among the Malay leaders has his intellect and tenacity?

 

Fair Play: Onyourtoes, you organised your thoughts and put it into words eloquently. Few, if any, really understood the untold abuses and sacrifices Anwar and his family had gone through and still do in their attempt to bring a better tomorrow to us, our children and our children's children.

 

I suppose that is the crux why people such as former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his cohorts have so much fear about Anwar.

 

Too Lan: What a shallow analysis from a supposedly experienced newsperson. Unless he is saying things to please his master and for his usual shallow-minded audience.

 

P Dev Anand Pillai: These are the type of opinions that you will have from the educated segment of the Malays who believe in nothing else but regime control.

 

Malays who have the guts to stand up to their very own Malay regime are taken down by using the courts which are filled with highly qualified serfs who willingly do the bidding of the regime.

 

Therefore, it is not surprising at all that we have educated Malays espousing thoughts like these. Mind-moulding works very well here.

 

Abasir: Kadir Jasin, many don't know who you really are, but some do. They know you as a weasel... an unprincipled Mahathir propaganda 'organiser' who showed his mettle during the glorious mid-90s when you ruled Jalan Riong ( New Straits Times ).

 

You are an order taker who cannot hold a candle to Anwar. You know that. And those who had the misfortune of working with you know that, too.

 

JMC: Anwar may be going all out to fight his conviction to a jail sentence which most Malaysians, even among legal circles, say is unjust and flawed.

 

It’s shocking that a veteran journalist like Kadir Jasin doesn't condemn the drama being played to sentence Anwar to jail by all means, in an unjust and abusive manner. I wonder what the latter will do if in he were in Anwar’s place?

 

Non: And why is this an issue? Of course, Anwar wants to be 'not forgotten'. He's human. And he's a politician. Even 'ex'-politicians do it.

 

Why do you think the empty vessel keeps making all the noise, becoming nastier and nastier each time Anwar opens his mouth, if it's not to be 'not forgotten'?

 

Godfearing: One's fear of going to jail or being forgotten - is this all that really matters? Does anyone care for justice?

 

Does anyone fear the ‘akhirat’, facing the Creator on the Day of Judgment? Hypocrisy of the highest degree displayed.

 

Azlan Ahmad: The issue is simple. BN wants to get rid of Anwar and Karpal from Malaysia's political scene forever. And I think half the battle is already won.

 

Anwar can forget about anything favourable from the Federal Court and so will Karpal from the Appeal Court.

 

If I were Anwar, just prepare to bring more religious books to prison to read to mark time and by the time his full sentence is completed he will be more than 70. He can still try to contest but it would be impossible, because by the that time, the next election is just being held.

 

So wait another five years and he will be near 80 already. Of course if PKR goes to Putrajaya in the next election, that's a different story. But even so, remember there are other charges against Anwar which the government can bring out if they are not time barred.

 

And by golly, they will make sure they are not. So from the human and mortal viewpoint, Anwar is a dead duck but from Allah the Almighty, we don’t know, only He knows.

 

Fair Play: Azlan Ahmad, I happen to view things differently. Put both Karpal and Anwar in jail might be the final straw that break the camel's back in the 14th general election (GE14). Call it the tipping point if you will.

 

Cmfoo: So what if Anwar wants to preserve his legacy? History has already been recorded and cannot be erased that Anwar is the turning point for a fair and democratic Malaysia - a Malaysia for all Malaysians, regardless of race or creed.

 

Kadir is a used and discarded tool of Umno-BN. He has more to fear of being totally forgotten and fading into oblivion.
