Zahid gets slap offer, deputy says 'shut resorts'

 

Fairnsquare: This should not be viewed as a kidnapping but an armed intrusion into Malaysian territory.

 

The armed forces must be be authorised to open fire on sighting of any armed intruders. This has gone too far and our territorial integrity has been breached once too many.

 

We seem to be playing ball with the Abu Sayyaf. Our attempts for ensuring their safety with the peace efforts with the Philippine government are not reciprocated.

 

There is no mutual respect.

 

Anonymous_4031: What has happened to the security of the nation? Isn't it ridiculous for Deputy Home Minister Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar to suggest that the resort in Sabah be closed down.

 

It is most irresponsible for a deputy minister to suggest this. Would it be more appropriate to close down the Home Ministry as it is not doing its job.

 

Note that Malaysia is trying to entice tourists to come to Malaysia.

The core problem here is the poor security along the shorelines of Sabah, Wan Quick-fix. What are you guys in your ministry and the Defence Ministry going to do about it?

 

Your calibre, or the lack of it, is atrocious.

Not Smart: Why must the resort be closed if it generates revenue and puts Malaysia on the tourism map?

 

Is it that difficult to provide security to this small mass of land? Get a radar installed and employ some civil servants to monitor and alert the security if any hostile intruders approach the island.

 

Oracle: Our leaders are bankrupt of ideas and vision. Led by PM Najib Razak, all they appear to be able to do, when addressed with a problem, is to create yet another useless body and coin an acronym.

 

The creation of Esscom is an example. Money thrown at it, but no powers given. They are more of a bureaucratic hindrance to efficient police actions. Great fanfare, but utterly useless in addressing problems.

 

Geronimo: One slap, for allowing our security to slack in Sabah, and another slap, for our military sleeping on the job when MH370 flew into our airspace.

 

One slap RM500, but if the person can get to slap him the second time, which is a little bit more difficult, then each slap should earn the person RM1,000 per slap making it a total of RM2,000.

 

Zahid is lucky he is not getting a shoe thrown right into his face, as practised by some Arab countries.

 

Hmmmmmmmm: Has our country ever thought of turning some of the most remote islands closest to the Philippines into military outposts?

 

So if any vessels try to pass through these islands, they will be subject to search. After all, they'll already be in Malaysian waters if they pass the islands.

 

Put a few hundred soldiers into each of these islands and Sabah will be safe (provided the soldiers don't sleep on the jobs or collude with them, of course.)

 

Roti Chanai: Firstly, it looks like what goes around, comes around. On suggestion to close resorts on those islands as we can't protect it, we may as well surrender the islands to the terrorists.

 

Why own them if we cannot use or draw benefits from them?

 

Takeiteasy: Yes, based on your logic, we should close down the aviation industry of the country as nobody can guarantee the safety of the passengers when they are up in the sky.

 

Similarly, we can also give up the sovereignty of the place to other country as you said nobody can guarantee the safety of the place.

 

Stupid man! You should give up living as God cannot guarantee you to live up to your old age also.

 

Sali Tambap: I agree that this Wan Junaidi is indeed an idiot. If not, he is admitting that Malaysia cannot protect herself from bandits and external forces that are breaching her sovereignty.

 

Or he is simply saying that Malaysians should give in to criminals, shut our business and move somewhere else where it is safer.

 

Let Wan Junaidi knows that, there is no safe place if we abdicate our responsibility in making them safe. Minister like this is not fit to sit on that very important post.

 

JoanH: Wan Junaidi's remarks must surely be the icing on the cake. Moving forward, any home, business premise that constantly gets broken into or robbed should just be closed down since police cannot ensure safety.

Me: No, the home minister doesn't deserve to be slapped. He should be sacked.
