YOURSAY 'Mark my words, when they brief the cabinet they will ask for even more allocations.'

'Shut down Essscom if it’s RM300mil white elephant'

Kim Quek In the Lahad Datu invasion last year, just a handful of ragtag men from the Philippines, and the Malaysian defence was tested to the limit and the country was in turmoil for months.

As usual, 'this or that' committee was formed and hundreds of millions dumped in as a solution to prevent future occurrences, but the Eastern Sabah coastline has proven to be as porous as ever, with the same ragtag men coming in and going out at will to murder and kidnap repeatedly, as shown in the in the latest kidnapping in Semporna.

So what is the solution? Or do we have a solution at all under the present regime?

ZhangFei I agreed and support Lim Kit Siang's statement fully. When they can't even take care of the security while blaming this and that, they may as well close shop. Does Sabah need such security?

Maybe yes, but no run by fools who have a 'tidak apa' attitude while shaking legs. Totally incompetent.

Malaya I fully agree with Lim. This is not plainly kidnapping but armed intrusion into Malaysia by foreigners. Shut down Esscom and before doing that, heads must roll. And whose heads are to roll?

The PM must get both the home and defence ministers to answer on this intrusion again. Failing to do so, the PM's head should roll.

JomUbahUbah Fully agree and support what Lim has said. Do not waste our hard-earned tax payers' monies.

JustaMalaysian Totally agree. Esscom must close down as it didn't live up to its objective. Otherwise, a total revamp is necessary. Heads must roll!

Saintonthego They should check what has happened to the RM300 million spent on the Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom). Maybe there are many bungalows and apartments in Sabah or maybe in Singapore (again) purchased with the money.

Odin One surmises that Esscom was established to enable some politicians and their cronies to make tons of money, and to reward servile, imbecilic persons of the right race, religion and political affiliation.

As for the hoi polloi, usually far more intelligent than the rewarded, who are working hard to pay taxes that are thus squandered, are taken for asses.

Onyourtoes How can there be any change for the better? There will never be any consequence or punishment no matter how many incidents or disasters have happened. The RM300 million are just routine allocations.

Mark my words, when they brief the cabinet they will ask for even more allocations. This is the way they operate - everyone is sleeping; occasionally they will wake up when an incident happens.

They will then stage a massive operation to flush out “this and that” but with more allocations, more assets and more personnel to be given to them.

They set up agencies without knowing their primary roles and functions. They have no idea how these new agencies ought to relate to existing ones to ensure no overlapping of authority, function, responsibility.

You just mark my words, Pemandu will soon be asked to study the overall set up of Esscom and spell out its functions and KPI. This is the extent of baloney we see today. No one cares or is able to grasp an issue systematically and holistically.

The civil service is devoid of expertise and the ministers are starved of talent and commitment. Reality hurts.

Spinnot Yes, shut down the white elephant and use the money to hire Gurkhas to guard the resorts.

Hmmmmmmmm Why don't we just pay RM1 million as tribute to the Abu Sayyaf annually and have peace from them for the next 300 years?

We don't hit the streets like you, MCA tells Perkasa

JBond This is just sandiwara by two of Umno's bootlicking groups, with the puppet master clapping hands in Putrajaya. This statement is the only way to show that they are still good bootlickers.

Samurai: MCA is just trying to act tough, but all along it has shrunk from taking a hard stand against Umno every time the latter threatens the races.

Instead of making meek swipes at Perkasa and holding useless 'watching briefs', why not just pressure your longtime BN partner Umno to drop the appeal in the first place? If you are so useless to nip the problem at the bud, just spare us the noise.

Armchair Newspaper Is Perkasa instructed by Umno to prompt and encourage MCA to exhibit its manliness, as it appears that party is so confused and rudderless that it needs Umno to keep it relevant?

One has to ask if its eunuch president can explain (in Bahasa Melayu, since his Engerish is so awful) to articulate if MCA is still aspiring to represent Malaysian Chinese as it's name portends, or is he the proverbial last emperor or puppet of Umno?

Single Malt What an unholy alliance, these BN component parties. If you have any pride, just stand on your own feet as independent parties. then see what happens.

Supercession Come now, MCA and Perkasa. Members within the BN family should not quarrel.
