Water rationing plans relaxed temporarily
Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor (Syabas), has relaxed all levels of the water rationing plan throughout Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya temporarily.
Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor (Syabas), has relaxed all levels of the water rationing plan throughout Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya temporarily.
Syabas assistant general manager of the corporate communications and public affairs department, Priscilla Alfred, said this followed the restart of operations at the water treatment plants at Cheras Batu 11 and Bukit Tampoi since March 30 after the ammonia content in the Sungai Langat had declined to a low level.
"Water supply from both treatment plants had been channelled by Syabas to the areas which had water rationing as usual.
"However, the operating company for both treatment plants, Puncak Niaga (M) Sdn Bhd, informed that the situation had not been truly stable with the erratic ammonia content in Sungai Langat," she said in a statement today.
Meanwhile, the relaxation of the third and fourth stages of the rationing plan was made possible as all the treatment plants had increased their production of treated water after the rise in the flow of river water around the Sungai Selangor area.

Water rationing continues in Perak
Meanwhile, water rationing in Taiping and Kamunting will continue.
This is because the water level at the Taiping Headworks water treatment plant in Bukit Larut has not reached the normal level of 35 million litres per day to call off a scheduled water rationing exercise.
State Public Utilities, Infrastructure, Energy and Water Committee chairman Zainol Fadzi Paharuddin said a visit to the plant yesterday found that the water level had risen to nearly 30 million litres per day but it was still insignificant.
"The water level is still insufficient despite the rain lately," he said when contacted by Bernama today.
Zainol Fadzi said if the water level at the plant continued to rise by five million litres to reach 35 million litres or more, water rationing could be stopped before April 16.
For more information, consumers can contact the affected area's Operations Room and LAP (Lembaga Air Perak) Consumer Complaints Centre in Taiping at 05-891 1437 or toll-free number 1-800-88-7788.
