Shahidan: Immoral to malign Malaysia abroad

Tan Kim Keong: What is the relevance of Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Shahidan Kassim’s reply to the question asked in Parliament?

 

The question asked was if leaking information overseas is also considered as espionage, and he replied by saying that it is immoral to criticise Malaysia and the government overseas.

 

Putting the irrelevancy of his reply aside, he should also ask himself if it is moral to perpetuate racism by advocating voting based on race .

 

Speaking Sense: Shahidan, to criticise the BN government is not the same as to criticise Malaysia.

 

It is because we care for Malaysia that we criticise the bad government that is bringing this country to ruin and disrepute.

 

If you have done nothing wrong, there is nothing to fear from any leaks, electronic or otherwise.

 

Aries46: With people like Shahidan as ministers, what is there to be proud of? And why do we need to go around bad mouthing this government as if the world doesn’t know the 'defecation' that goes on in the name of governing the country.

 

For Shahidan’s information, those millions of Malaysians who have migrated from this land in frustration and disgust to escape Umno-BN’s bigoted, racist, corrupt governance, segregating its own people into superior and inferior racial divide for its own survival, are spread far and wide and in sufficient numbers to keep the global community abreast with the baloney that drove them from this land.

 

Coming nearer to home, in the recent missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 saga, it did not take any effort to discredit the country.

 

According to media reports we were branded murderers , incompetent, liars, mediocre by foreigners all over merely by the conduct of those elites who are touted as the leaders of the country’s aviation and defence hubs. So why point fingers at others, Shahidan?

 

Odin: Shahidan, you have once again shown that you are, like your fellow BN politicians, clearly very wanting in the intellect department. There is a vast difference between Malaysia and your government.

Malaysia is a physical, geographical existence, whereas your government is a non-cognitive entity - which happens to be made up of mostly moronic, corrupt specimens of the human race.

 

No Malaysian in his right mind would criticise Malaysia - the physical, geographical entity - locally or abroad, and so the question of morals or the lack of it thereof does not arise.

 

It is not morally wrong to criticise your government for continuously practising immoral activities, such as awarding contracts directly to businesses owned by your party members and their families or cronies, and purchasing sundry items at grossly inflated prices and the purchasing parties seemingly pocket the excess payments.

 

Idon'tlikekangkung: Indeed, there is a difference between criticising the government and criticising the country.

 

While most of us would uphold the reputation of the country, many of us cannot, in all good conscience, uphold the reputation of a government that won elections by deception, cheating and intimidation.

 

But then again, the country's image has already been severely tarnished by those who are onshore at the moment - see flying magic carpets and the misinformation that came out in first few weeks of the MH370 saga.

 

Negarawan: Malaysia has become a failed state solely because of Umno's greed and incompetency. There is no need to blame anyone for "maligning" the country as Umno is already doing a great job there by itself.

 

MH370 has exposed the incompetency, corruption and apartheid policies of Umno to the world as can be seen in William Pasek's article, ‘Missing plane will haunt Malaysia's future’ .

 

Versey: Mr Minister, don't you know that there is a difference between country and government? Malaysia is a country, with its institutions, belongs to the rakyat who inhabit it, the government is formed by a political party that is given the mandate by the people to manage the country.

 

The existing government can be replaced by another political party should the people grow weary of its blundering and amorality by exercising their constitutional rights.

 

Those who condemn an inefficient and corrupt government are indeed far more moral than those who condone it.

 

The most immoral are the useless, futile ruling party and politicians who are paid by the taxpayers to oversee the civil service and institutions, and are not only unashamed of corruption under their management, but ignore and may even have a hand in the practice of social and legal injustices and wrongdoings.

Patriotic Malaysians are supporting Malaysia all the time wherever they are, but they support the government only when it deserves it.

 

Free and Fair Election: Shahidan, first of all, please tell your BN government to honour and respect our democratic system.

 

Please respect every citizen who eats and defecates in Malaysia and give every citizen, regardless of race, the right to education and government positions. Respect and honour all citizens regardless of race.

 

I love Malaysia but I hate BN and its racism.

BN has been waging war with Pakatan Rakyat and some NGOs. The battlefield in Malaysia is not level, rules keep changing and goalposts keep shifting, etc.

 

Hello, the world is already a global kampung . The battlefield is not confined to one specific location any longer.

 

StopMonkeying: Nobody maligned our beloved nation. It is the crooks and scoundrels that must be exposed in order to save our country from destruction.

 

Peacemaker: It is also immoral to tell lies on behalf of the government, to oppress minorities by denying them their rights, cheat the government by handing out inflated government contracts and to receive and give bribes, even if it is RM500 million for "services rendered".

 

Shahidan now speaks of morality. Doesn't he know that Malaysia’s immorality is coming home to roost?

 

David Dass: There is a difference between criticising the government and maligning the country.

 

Citizens can love Malaysia and yet loathe the government in power. We can also love Malaysia and yet hate the mosquitoes and the heat and the bad driving habits in the country.

 

I have concerns about the high crime rates in certain parts of the country and caution my foreign friends when they travel within the country. Do I suddenly become disloyal and guilty of espionage when I do so?

 

The bad things about the country are not national secrets. Foreign NGOs and countries maintain all sorts of indexes of countries - corruption indexes, crime indexes, free press indexes, religious freedom indexes, discrimination indexes, traffic accident rates indexes, human trafficking indexes, etc.

 

So if we really want a good press overseas, we must work hard at having good governance and effective law enforcement.

 

Doc: When I go overseas, I always praise Malaysia as a beautiful country with no natural disasters.

                                                           

The only disaster we have is the ruling Umno-BN government and their bunch of moronic politicians who should be strung up to dry for destroying the fabric of Malaysia's cultural diversity, economy and maruah (pride).

 

How's that for praising Malaysia, Shahidan?
