The Pahang government plans to redevelop the old ferry service terminal in Sungai Pahang near Jerantut Ferry as the new tourist attraction to the state.

Tahan assemblyperson Wan Amizan Razak said, right now, cleaning works on the five-hectare site was being done by the Jerantut District Council.

“When the cleaning works are completed, we will build 15 cafes or stalls to enable visitors to sit and relax,” he told Bernama in Jerantut today.

At the same time, a fish landing centre would also be built in the area to enable fishermen to land and sell their catch.

He said five to seven million baby fish, including patin, temoleh, baung and tapah, would be released into the river for breeding purposes.

This was part of the state government’s efforts to breed freshwater fish and to ensure that Jerantut would remain as one of the main freshwater suppliers in Pahang, besides Lipis, Temerloh and Maran, he added.
