Selangor PAS Youth will hold a "special prayer" for party president Abdul Hadi Awang, who is facing a RM2 million suit from a PKR Youth leader over remarks Hadi had made during last year’s general election campaign.

Selangor PAS Youth chief Syarhan Humaizi Abdul Halim said that the special prayer will be held at the Zulkifli Muhammad Islamic University College in Taman Melewar in Gombak, Selangor.

Hadi was ordered to pay RM2 million to PKR's Shamsul Mat Amin ( left ) for defamation, after Hadi failed to file his defence in Shamsul's suit on remarks Hadi made at a ceramah during the election campaign.

The High Court in Kuala Terengganu handed down its judgment in default on Feb 17, after Hadi failed to turn up for mention of the defamation suit for three days.

Hadi did not file his defence on the understanding that the top PKR leaders have persuaded Shamsul not to proceed with the case. However, Shamsul went ahead.

"We see this as an act by irresponsible parties who have their own interests, and must be stopped immediately to preserve the spirit in Pakatan Rakyat," Syarhan said.

Shamsul claimed that Hadi in his remarks had linked him to the sale of methamphetamine during a talk at Alor Libat in Terengganu, while trying to justify why PAS fielded candidates in several state seats in Terengganu that PKR was also contesting.

Shamsul, a housing developer, was PKR's candidate for the Bukit Besi state seat in Terengganu. He garnered only 52 votes against the 4,408 votes obtained by PAS, but BN won with 6,966 votes.

Hadi has denied naming anyone when he made the remarks, during which he also accused some PKR candidates of being communist worshippers.

Hadi, who is the Marang member of parliament, filed his application to set aside the judgment against him at the High Court in Kuala Terengganu on Feb 27, through his lawyer Asmuni Awi.
