You can jail Karpal but not his spirit
YOURSAY ‘One Singh down, 10 will appear to take his place.’
For Karpal, no going out the back door
Kee Thuan Chye: Karpal Singh, I salute you. There are few Malaysians who are as principled as you. Few Malaysians who have fought so hard as you have. And sacrificed so much.
Yes, we will stay. We will not go and give them what they want. This is, after all, our country.
Louis: You can jail Karpal, but you cannot imprison his spirit and resolve. Those people have no better thing to do than wasting money trying to jail a weak old man.
Nonbeliever: I am a doctor and an agnostic from the same university as Karpal. Karpal was my senior but I am one year older than him.
In my book, this is stated, "A good law benefits the citizens, but a bad one punishes the innocent."
Corruption will destroy the future of Malaysia and the young Aborigines, Indians, Chinese and Malays will suffer.
The only way to help the young of Malaysia is by declaring war against corruption. Karpal has risked his life to fight corruption. Do we have to do our duty, like Karpal?
Mosquitobrain: Judges are supposed to be independent and impartial in the court of law. And if you've a weak, biased and immature judicial systems compounded by incompetent judges who also can be easily influenced by politicians, then justice is damned.
As for Karpal’s case, it's very clear cut. Karpal (actually DAP) in BN-Umno mentality is always a threat to them. Thus BN-Umno have schemed to put him away from politics permanently.
Oilman: You, Sir, are one of the personalities that I most respect - morally upright, fearless, incorruptible. Our shamelessly corrupt government fears you because you can cause them a lot of problems due to your legal expertise.
If they jail you, I will change from being an armchair critic and become a full-fledged political activist. If other ordinary citizens can be similarly roused, this may become a great catalyst for change.
Capo: Karpal, it has been overwhelmingly shocking to witness the injustices meted out to you and Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim.
Let’s roar together, a roar so deafening that it will drown out the ills facing this nation.
Alfanso: Well, the British had their lousy law now copied by the colonised countries.
At least the judiciary here should enquire into the truth of the matter and decide for justice’s sake. Don't follow what the government wants is more than enough, and if the judges can do that it would be marvelous.
Some are doing it already. I hope this continues and more.
Versey: YB Karpal, deep inside the hearts of all those devilish and unjust goons, they are actually very fearful of you.
You can be assured that all right-minded human beings are with you, least to say all right-minded Malaysians. You are highly respected, admired and loved by all right-thinking Malaysians. We will support you all the way. God be with you.
Anonymous_3faa: If we have honourable citizens like Karpal, Lim Kit Siang, etc, who put national interest and justice way above selves, Malaysia would have been a model First World country without peers.
Fight on, Tiger, you will never lose your dignity no matter what Umno may hurl at you.
Not Smart: Karpal, you should not be regarded as a loser even if you lost in this matter. From all your sacrifices and upholding your strong principles, you have opened the eyes of many in our country that people in power are blatantly corrupted.
Although their acts are so very obvious, they don't even have the least fear in their Creator. After the voters had voted them in good faith, they turn out to be devils.
Your Creator may have created you to be in this situation - to expose such wrongdoings.
360: If you are reading this, please know that you have the support of many people. Keep fighting. I wish there were more people like you in Malaysia.
Negarawan: There will be several more crackdowns on key opposition figures this year on trumped-up charges.
It is part of the dastardly masterplan of Umno to kill their opponents one by one. Umno will know the meaning of "kebangkitan rakyat" sooner or later.
Pa·tri·ot·ic: If Karpal is send to jail, this will be the end of BN. One Singh down, 10 will appear to take his place.
Jaycee: Yes, we all know that there are two sets of laws here. One for BN and their cronies and the other for the rakyat. You are either "for them or against them" and if you are against them, anything you say will be regarded as sedition.
Ace: Bravo, Karpal. You are really a man of integrity and Malaysians are lucky to have a fearless fighter against injustice.
You deserve every ounce of respect that the people have for you. You are not the "lion of Jelutong", you are "the lion of Malaysia".
May: My dear Mr Karpal, thank you for having fought so many battles for us Malaysians and you are still at it.
We can never repay you for all that you have done to keep us "free", yet you yourself have been incarcerated for "freeing" us and is still threatened by it.
God bless you, sir, and your loved ones and know that we, Malaysians, love you, too. We will always love you.
KnockKnock: “If I go through that back door now, I will go through back doors all my life.”
It is worth shedding tears to have been shot at with that statement. Thank you, Karpal. Those words should be printed on T-shirts and be adopted by all.
Mymail: Yes, Karpal, you hit the nail right on the head. We shall not be moved. Why? Because this is our land as much as everybody who are born here.
Fight we must, we will fight them in the hills, we will fight them in the valleys, we will fight them everywhere until justice prevails.
