Eight members of the 7 Continents Exploration Club (KE7B) will leave tomorrow to Iceland for a ski expedition across Greenland, Denmark, starting April 25, covering a distance of 550km.

“We hope Malaysians will pray for success of the exploration,” said Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Razali Ibrahim when launching the KE7B Malaysia Greenland Expedition 2014 in Putrajaya today.

KE7B, a Felda initiative, has so far succeeded in reaching the peak of the Everest in 2013, swam across the English Straits (2012), climbed seven summits (other that the Everest (2010-2014), and rode on bicycles and motorcycles across 21 countries.

Razali said the Greenland Expedition was more challenging than the Everest climb as only eight KE7B could make it.

Upon reaching Iceland, the KE7B members would make arrangements before entering the ice-capped Greenland on April 23 and begin the 35-day ski expedition on April 25 from Ammassalik (East Greenland) to Sondre Stromfjord.

Members of the expedition, namely Yanizam Mohamad Supiah (leader), Shaiful Hisyam Abd Aziz, Mohd Akasyah Jamaludin, Muhammad Irwan Yusuf Abdullah, Muhd Hafizuddin Abdul Mutalib, Muhammad Musaddiq Samsudin, and couple Abdul Rahman Abu Hassan and Tahira Najmunisaa Muhammad Zaid, are expected to endure temperature below freezing point of below 46 degree Celsius.
