Even if he is not picked as PKR’s deputy president this time around, party secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said he had no qualms working with other candidates like incumbent Azmin Ali and Selangor MB Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.

Sinar Harian reported Saifuddin as emphasising that the trio could sit together and communicate well even though they were facing off against each other for party members’ votes in the upcoming elections.

“I am different from Abdul Khalid only when it comes to policies. When there is a different view, I always convey it to him and he knows that, too.

“Meanwhile, Azmin and I share common experience in the formation years of PKR and are also equally involved in the party’s official programmes,” Saifuddin was quoted as telling the newspaper in Ampang Jaya last night.

He added that having been a senior party official for five years, he has often met with MB Khalid to convey the party’s decisions, especially when the MB fails to attend meetings.

Observers have said that Saifuddin was akin to an alternative choice in the rivalry between Azmin and Khalid for the party’s second-highest position.

As his key strategy, Saifuddin has formed an election pact with vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar and director of strategy Rafizi Ramli to compete as a team and on its drive to win the next general election.
