Syiah Imamiyyah (Ja’fari) Society committee chairperson Mohd Kamilzuhairi Abdul Aziz was arrested yesterday for investigation of the allegation that the society was not registered with the Registrar of Societies (ROS).

Gombak police chief Ali Ahmad said the arrest was made in Taman Sri Gombak after ROS lodged a police report claiming that Syiah Ja’fari was not a registered society.

“However, investigation is ongoing and further details will be announced later.

“All documents are with ROS, the police are only here to help,” he said when contacted yesterday.

An ROS representative, when met at Gombak police headquarters, refused to comment further, saying that ROS would issue a statement soon.
