Terengganu Menteri Besar Ahmad Said has refused to be drawn into media speculation of a change in the state leadership.

Ahmad, 57, who is currently into his second term as menteri besar after taking the post following the 12th general election in 2008, said he would let the press or anyone speculate so long as they were happy.

As state BN chairperson, he said the position of BN in the state assembly with 17 seats compared to 15 held by the opposition was more important and should be given due attention.

He said this when asked to comment on press reports and speculation in social media that two menteris besar would be replaced soon.

Earlier, Ahmad attended a signing ceremony between a state government subsidiary, Eastern Pacific Industrial Corp (Epic) Berhad with the Federal Land Consolidation and Rehabilitation Authority (Felcra) at Wisma Darul Iman in Kuala Terengganu yesterday.

Meanwhile at the same function, the menteri besar also announced that scholarship for students of state-owned religious schools would be raised to RM70 a month, beginning next month.

He said the decision was made at the weekly executive council meeting today, in which form one to form five students would obtain RM840 a year from next month while the scholarship for form six students was increased to RM1,080 from RM840 per year.

At the signing ceremony, Felcra was represented by its chief executive officer, Ramlee Abu Bakar while Epic managing director-cum-chief executive officer Ramli Shahul Hameed signed on behalf of the company.

The event was witnessed by Felcra chairperson Bung Moktar Radin and Epic chairperson Mazlan Ngah.
