Incidents of burst pipes in Petaling Jaya and Rawang today adversely affected the channelling of water to the surrounding areas which are involved in the water supply rationing plan.

Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas), Corporate Communications and Public Affairs assistant general manager Priscilla Alfred in a statement said the rechannelling of water to the affected areas commenced as soon as repairs were done.

“There are also areas not listed in the water rationing plan but experienced water supply disruption and this was caused by burst pipes or other faults in the water distribution system, not by the rationing exercise,” she said.

On pressure from certain parties on Syabas to cease rationing, Priscilla said the decision was under the jurisdiction of the Selangor government and the role of Syabas was only to distribute water supply and implement the rationing exercise.

She said the first, third and fourth stage of the water rationing plan were still on. The implementation method is two days with water and two days without water.
