The organisers of a thrash metal concert by renowned German group Kreator claimed to have suffered more than RM20,000 in losses with Kuala Lumpur City Hall's (DBKL) last minute cancellation of the event cancelled.

Demigod Records said two DBKL officers had on April 23 at 5.30pm, turned up at a club in Jalan P Ramlee, Kuala Lumpur ,where the concert was to be held and ordered the night’s event be cancelled and the premises closed.

It added that it was forced to comply, fearing a raid otherwise and could see its patron ending up in a lock up, in a statement on Facebook.

Demigod Records said it spent RM75,000 in planning  the concert  but its pre-sales tickets came up to only RM53,800.

Following this loss, the organiser said it was unable to refund fans who had purchased tickets.

The organiser said it could only make a refund had the concert been cancelled on their own accord or by the Central Agency Committee for Application for Filming and Foreign Artists Presentations (Puspal).

"In this case it was not our action (to cancel), it was beyond our control," it said.

Meanwhile, when asked to comment, DBKL said the concert was blocked as the premise's entertainment licence had expired in an email to Malaysiakini yesterday.

"The operator is still in the process of renewing its licence. In this period, no activities are allowed," a DBKL spokesperson added.
