A top pro-reformasi website was intruded by hackers just past midnight this morning, disrupting its normal display which has not been restored even up till 11.30am today. Laman Reformasi , as the site is popularly known, was unable to display its usual pro-opposition material.

During malaysiakini's investigation early this morning, all three visits to the site at http://mahazalimtwo.tripod.com showed only a pornographic picture (of two men having sex) with the message: Hahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!" , ":)" , and " Dasar peliwat bangsa " (The essence of our nation's sodomist).

Hackers Junior was the nickname used by the intruders, according to information gathered by malaysiakini after examining the page source of attack.

The symbol ":)" represents a smile pointing to the hacker(s) pleasure at breaking into the site, thus corresponding with the expression of laughter "ha, ha, ha". The smile symbol is commonly used in cyber chats and email messages.

The phrase "the essence of our nation's sodomist" most likely ties in with the trial of ex-deputy prime minister Anwar Ibrahim on sodomy charges.

The same page is also displayed at the site's second link, http://mahazalimnet.tsx.org/.

A third URL link at http://mahazalimtwo.tripod.com/index2.htm, displays the message "Blah lah Mahazalim...siapa lagi tera!" (Go away Mahazalim...who is smarter!).

"Mahazalim" is an alternative name for this popular site.

Further investigations by malaysiakini find the other pro-reform websites are left untouched. The sites of Mahafiraun 2020, Komentar, Free Malaysia, Pemantau, Reformasi Nasional, Al-Islah , and Black 14 , continue to function normally today.

The same goes for newer Reformasi websites such as Minda Rakyat and Fitnah e-Umno . Opposition party websites are also untampered.

During last year's Sabah state elections, discussion groups belonging to a few opposition groups were overwhelmed by mass emails or spam.

For example, the discussion group belonging to Pertubuhan Jamaah Islah Malaysia (JIM), Islah-Net, received thousands of repeated spam-mail for every genuine email.

The spam called on the electorate to vote for Barisan Nasional in the state election.

This latest hacking operation into Laman Reformasi is also believed to be in connection with tomorrow's polling for the parliamentary by-election in Teluk Kemang, featuring a straight fight between KeADILAN and BN.

The reformasi websites are primarily used to communicate with KeADILan supporters. Among others, they publish "classified" government information, such as the alleged corrupt practices of Minister of Trade and Industry, Rafidah Aziz, a RM400 million Telekom contribution to the ruling party, as well as a letter by Dr. Mahathir Mohamad to Israel's Prime Minister.

Attempts to contact the webmaster of Laman Reformasi has been unsuccessful since this morning.
